I'm a bit confused about the size of rc car tires. I remember when I got my gold tub rc-10 it came with a pair of three(or four) piece wheels that were screwed together with three hex screws. These wheels were replaced with the wheels from the rc-10 graphite when that first came out. I've tried to meassure these wheels and they seem to be about 2.2" in diameter. Is this the standard size buggy tires for 1:10 wheels and tires these days. I think I've seen some wheels that were alot bigger. I also wonder about the size of the original rc-10 gold pan wheels as I tried to put the wheels from the rc-10 on my scorpion tire and they where a bit too big for the wheel. What sized tires would fit on my scorpion?

Modern buggies now use a standard 2.2inch diameter wheel. Years ago the standard size was 2inch, for the likes of Mardave, Tamiya, Schumacher, Associated and I bet Kyosho.

Just wanted to add that some early 80's off roaders used 1.6 inch diameter rims. I think the old Kyosho 2wd buggies were like this and certainly the 5 star tamiya wheels on the Frog/Hornet etc are 1.6.

The original RC10 used 2 inch rims.

Hornet rears fit on Scorpion wheels, here's my example.

Any other tyres made for the SRBs can fit. Also as the rear wheels have just a friction drive on the axle you could fit any wheel that will go on the axle, adding spacers so the wheel nut can be tightened up.

The original buggies had 40mm/1.6" diameter rear wheels, based on the SRB wheel size. This became a standard 2wd rear wheel size, but strangely with 2" diameter fronts. The RC10 originally had 1.6" diameter rear wheels. The Hotshot brought us 2" diameter wheels, which quickly became the industry standard. Yokomo then developed 2.2" wheels for the 1991 World Championships. These gave an advantage over 2" wheels so this became the new standard wheel diameter.

Thanks for the info. I've meassured the rc-10 graphite wheels again and it seems the front rims are 2.2" and the rear are 2.0".
