I have the old tranny in my RC10 and want to use a 48 pitch spur instead of the original 32 pitch. Could anyone tell me what size 48 pitch spur replaces the original 32? I could use some pinion recommendations as well, I'm running a green machine stock motor if it helps...

To convert from 32dp to 48dp and keep the same ratio/gear size just multiply the number of teeth on the 32dp gear by 1.5. for example a 50 tooth 32dp gear has the same diameter as a 75 tooth 48dp gear.

The internal ratio of the original RC10 6 gear tranny is 1.83:1. I personally run an 81 tooth 48 pitch spur on my old Rc10. using Terry's advice this works out to be the correct size as the original 32dp spur was a 54 tooth.

The Green machine is a high revving (lower torque) stock motor, so a ratio of about 8:1 is what Id start with. using a 19 tooth pinion, with the 81 spur will give a ratio of 7.8:1. An 18 to the 81 spur will give you a ratio of 8.235:1.

What 32dp pinion and spur were/are you using in it now?? If your happy with how it runs now, just work the 48dp gearing to be at about the same ratio.

Merry Xmas.

Hi Backlash,

I never run the rc10 before, I'm currently restoring it and wanted to replace the original 32 pitch with a 48 pitch spur for smoother running and better pinion choices. That is why I wanted a recommendation for pinion/spur set up to start with (sorry for not mentioning that before). Anyways, thanks for your suggestions, I'll start with this set up and fine tune it from there.

Happy new year (and happy hanukkah) everybody..
