Whats so special in a series 1 turbo that all you UK folk love it? To avoid misunderstanding, above is a real questions not an ironic statement, I am curious as in other countries the first Escort series didn't have a good reputation. Could it be that its the GTi that you were watching as kids in the 80s, something like the Golf GTi in Germany and propably the 205 GTi in France? [;)]

Anyway, taste is something subjective and don't worry, I also like the mk2 rs2000 escort and escort cossie alot! [:)]

Good Question tough choice....

Hmmm.

My top three would come from three different continents.

1. Dodge Viper R/S V-10 USA - Lotsa Power!!!

2. Porsche 959 AWD DE - I've always loved this car!!!

3. Datsun 240Z w/6pk carbs Japan - My Dad had one. Although this would have to be mint mint mint. They have a very nasty habit of rusting out.[8D]

Normal affordable cars would be:

1. TVR Tuscan (after it has been to the lads in Racing)

2. Ford Escort Cosworth (after it has been breathed on by Mark Adams)

3. Nissan Skyline R34

Can't really afford but still lust over....

1. TVR Speed 12 (the orginal white one that is rotting by dads office)

2. Merceedes SLK after its been to Barabus.

3. A *standard* NISMO Skyline.

In no particular order:

1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible, preferably with the 440 cid (~7.3L) engine. I'd take the 426 Hemi, but they only made around 10 of those..

1963 split window Corvette

BMW M5 (kinda out of place with the above 2)

Give me any of the following and I'll be a happy bunny... :

Aston Martin Vanquish (what a piece and it's got a V12)

Lamborghini Countach 5000S Quattrovalvole (what a sound on carbs)

TVR Cerbera 4.5LW, Tuscan or Tamora (performance per pound is unmatched)

Brabus SLK (looks like a *****cat but bites like a bulldog)

Dodge Charger R/T (Come on, every seen Bullitt...?)

Dodge Challenger R/T (Barry Newman - Vanishing point. Need I say more...?)

Dodge Hemi Cuda Convertible (Nash Bridges...?)

Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth (Ludwig and Soper at the '87 Bathurst 1000)

2WD Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth (Sideways shenanigans for £3k)

Sorry, but the Jap stuff does nothing for me. I spent a day screwing an Evo VI round Silverstone and it did nothing but understeer all day. After 15 laps I had destroyed a brand new pair of Pirelli P-Zeros. NOTHING bar a Scandinavian flick would break the rear away to have some fon. Great point-to-point squirt, but it's still just a Misubishi Carisma. Still, hanging on to the back of a racing GT1 Porsche through the chicane was something else and a quite stunning feat for a roadcar.

On the road, well, I'm a fan of the TVR Cerbera. Having sat in the passenger seat of my dads factory special 4.7 and watched the speedo as it cruised through 185mph (295kph) and was still pulling like the Space Shuttle. Think of doing 90mph in a regular car. That's 20mph over the UK motorway speed limit. Seems quite quick when you're there. DOUBLE IT and then add some for good measure. THAT's quick. At that speed even motorways have serious corners. Trust me...!

RS500 Cosworth. Watch the 1987 Bathurst 1000. The Sapphire Cossie, give me 2WD for fun, the 4WD understeers terribly as standard. Many a time I've been broadside in an old 2WD Sapphire Cossie with knackered Dunlops on. Great fun. Spun a few times mind.

Had a Escort RS Turbo (II), Great Seats, Great Turbo kick. Pants Build quality (Thats Ford for you!)

Golf VR6 Wow the sound of a V6 in 3 third gear!

Got a 106 Gti now think of a go kart and stick on a really road!![8D]

But I'll really Like a Skyline R34, a V6 Pug 406 coupe (just for the **** looks!) RS200 a real one not a kit! Or a Honda Type R Integra, a real beast!

[:D]Twinset, You're a typical diver!![:D]

They all love these land rover type things. They are actually good, if you need that kind of thing, and have the oil reserve in your back garden to run it.

P.S. Wheres the best place you have been diving?. I do a little bit myself, well I did a couple of years ago.

Cheers Bibbo

I always liked these, I think it's a parental influence thing[:D]

My dad is always saying he wants one too!

Dive wise, the Red Sea is cool, nice and warm (before, during and after) but if you're there for a long time, seeing hundreds of brightly colored fish EVERY day can get a bit boring - If you ever go, go on a wreck themed dive as opposed to sightseeing.

I've had some really good dives in Weymouth (south England) and never get bored there.

Chesil Beach is an excellent spot, it's a reinforced causeway, and becuase it's all rock (not much sand) visibilty can be amazingly good.

I mainly take pictures and video whilst diving, so as long as there's something (new) to look at, I'm happy.[:D]

I know I like monster trucks in R/C land but in the real world my tastes are quite different!

1) Porsche 911 (993) Turbo 'S'

2) Lancia HF Integrale 16V Evo 3

3) Porsche 968 club sport

A bit more civilized compared to monster trucks!

Hey Twinset, I tottally understand your Land Rover passion. I bet I was one of the few to recognise it, I guess. My dad told me all about them, used to work with 'em all day. [;)] Now my mum has something like this...

brugt_30.jpg

Is my mum cool or what?!?! [:D] IT'S A BLAST. It has the wind-resistance for a 20-floor office but it's f*cking fast! [:o]

BUT BUT BUT....

My number one will always be:

Lazarus.jpg

It's my dad's! [:D] It's the coolest car there is... God do I want to give it a blast down the road one day! [}:)] My dad is getting more nervous every year as I am nearly 18! [;)] [:D]

And another one I like. It's so stylish...

mysterycar.jpg

I know what it is - now you have got to guess. [;)] Can anyone tell me what it is or am I the only one with a good taste? [;)] LOL

I'd be very pleased if you'd know... [:D] [:D]
