My Mum's '63 Elf didn't have seatbelts at all! Apple green leather interior, walnut dash, Wilton carpets, and one of those little green lenses that fall off the indicator stalk yes - but no seatbelts! [:D]

hey, dont knock the new minis! they're not as big as I thought (a little bit longer than my sisters ford Ka [xx(]) and whenever my mum or dad drives our One they have a grin on their face!* I really like our new mini, and it will be mine when I drive, not too long to wait either! Im 17 in january!

The old ones do conform to the mini mantra best I suppose (saw a pic of a new cooper S racing an old mk1 and it looked like a massive difference!) but I think that the new one should be given credit before its automatically written off. (This is the 2005 model, not sure about the issues with earlier ones)

*could be due to the NOS, one for power and two for the laughing gas aspect! [:D][:D] - only joking, no NOS here officer!

P.S - here it is, respledent in the new metallic black!

its made in the old morris plant,so it does have a little connection to the mini, and without it the mini name would have died when rover just died!,i dont mind them we have a member in our mini club who's got one! i could just think of better cars to spend my brass on.

I have 2.

Got a H reg 1275 Cooper and a mini in the garage with £5000 of carbon fibre and over 350 BHP.

Just need to get it all fitted.

My first car was a Mini 850, it was the same age as me and was given to me by my Mum. I spent a lot of time in the garage tinkering and virtually rebuilding it. It was grey with red interior trim, had the main/dipped beam switch as a footpedal on the floor, side sliding windows and strings to open the doors, all genuine original equipment. One of the most fun cars I've ever had. After a couple of years running it I sold it to get something else (can't remember what now, I think it was a Marina Coupe [:I]).

The original Mini is a fantastic little car. Whilst I like the BMW "Mini", it's not really a Mini at all and the original car beats it hands down for charm and character. However, the BMW is rather better for handling and safety though. There used to be a whole crowd of Minis round my area, and we had an unofficial Mini club, used to turn up at Southend seafront with 10-20 of them in the days before the cruise got taken over by factory Escorts and Saxos.

I keep thinking about getting another Mini for fun, but there don't seem to be any cheap ones now, like the Beetles, you have to pay a lot of money even for a bad example. One day I will get me a genuine 1275GT though, I have a friend who has one which has been restored and it is a superb car.
