I would go with:

bearings throughout

oil dampers

esc

sort out the gearbox screw threads, lots of different methods, I prefer through bolting them. (they arent always worn out, but most of them are)

Big torquey motor

Diff locks front and rear, if you cant find any (I know there are some on a well known auction site at the moment) you can lock them with play dough, car body filler, rubber bands etc etc.

Lift the body half an inch or so

water proof the electrics

All the bits you need are easily available from LHS or folks on here.

If your tyres are shot, Carson do a copy that looks identical, but has nasty Carson lettering on them, to remove the lettering drive the truck through some dry sand a bit, works a treat.....

have a look in my showroom for inspirational pictures and go to my website for silly videos of one of my Pajero RTR's getting very, very wet and muddy.

To waterproof your electrics you can choose many different methods, from fitting the RX and servos in a balloon to making a custom enclosure from a sealed box (Did you look at my showroom/website, theres a few pics of what I did. I would buy an esc that is waterproof and just use it 'as is'

Kyosho Megnetic mayhem motors are supposed to be a great motor, I havent tried them though as I use a motor from a Dewalt 18 volt drill!

I cant remember the numbers but for bearings you need a couple of 1510's a couple if 1260's a handfull of 1150's and one or two 850's

If your looking for a kit of bearings they are the same chassis as the Pajero MTW, Jeep Wrangler, Isuzu Mu, Isuzu Mu Type X and the Honda CR-V. These are all standard size Tamiya bearings and should be easy to get hold of.

There is also a new version of the chassis thats used on the VW Tuareg, although I dont know if its getting released in all countries.

Tamiya Mini CVA shocks fit, just build them without any spacers etc. I actually use these or the pinky/red coloured aluminium shocks on one of my RTR Pajeros, these work really well.

If you get a waterproof ESC (recommended as if you "baloon" it, it can overheat) you only need to "baloo" the receiver, servos and motors are usually very robust.

As motors for slow torquey climbing/trialing I would recommend one of the 80 turn truck motors made by LRP and Team Orion.

Cheers
