Anyone else either still have one of these, or picked up the re-issue car?

fantastic Off Road car, and great to see 4wd electric getting loads more support !!

here's mine, thanks to fellow TC member Stu B. for the awesome paint !!

Here is pic of the electronics.  I noticed that the cappacitors on the motor are not soldered to the can.  will that make a difference?

we only solder caps to the motor on a stock ( no openable) can.

The first thing I see though is your bullet connectors right over the receiver, if they spark at all or cause electrical 'noise' that could be an issue.

Also, maybe try re-routing your antenna wire.

I was talking to a guy at my LHS and he suggested putting the ESC on the bottom and put the receiver on edge on top of the drive belt hump.  I will most likely get rid of the bullet connectors and solder directly to the motor.

Jim,

on mine I have the receiver up top, that way it is right next to the antenna mount, less chance of being a problem.

Also, if all else seems to fail, just swap out the motor to make sure it isn't that.

Tried swapping the motor, the ESC and the Reciever.  same glitching happens.  The weirdest thing is that if I hold the batteries over the chassi it stops.  when I put them in the chassis the glitching starts.  I lined the chassis with tape and wrapped the batteries with plastic wrap thinking the batteries were shorting on the chassis but no improvement

Interesting.

I would have said the location of the receiver would cause your

problems. First it's next to the motor, the prime source of

interference. Second the power wires go over the receiver and the

receiver aerial passes under the wires and the FET board of the ESC.

These would either interfere or even block the signal.

I would definitely recommend fitting the ESC next to the motor, getting

rid of the bullet connectors and fitting the receiver on top of the

centre spine.

Re: the batteries. Does it happen with all packs or just one pack in

particular? If there is a faulty connection in the pack it can work

fine out of the car but putting it in the tray puts a load on the pack

and twists it a little so you open up a faulty joint. Also check the

wiring on the ESC as there could be a faulty joint or worn wiring that

only shows up when the wires are connected with the batteries in the

car. The wires in the photo are twisted quite tightly to get the leads

connected so there could be a problem there if some of the strands are

broken inside the wires.
