To whoever may be interested:

Walawala shop (former eBay store) is quitting R/C spare parts and hop-ups.

For those who don't know, Walawala was an eBay store that eventually

became a RC parts supply website.  Apparently there has been a

significant change in postal rates from Macau (where he is located) so

it is no longer profitable for him to sell anything other than

bearings.

Last month he sent out a letter to all of his regular customers asking

how they feel about the change in postal rates.  According to the

last letter I got, only 112 people voted to keep the store going.

This is sad to me, since I ordered most of my small spares and hop-ups

from here at very good prices.  The good news is, until he closes

his doors, all merchandise is 20% off.

Thats a bummer as I have ordered guy a bit of stuff from them in the past.  On a different note my Postman is from Macau and he said he knew the town they were from.

Ha! You should ask your postman why the post office in Macau doesn't

have a computer!  I asked Mr. Assis why he doesn't offer tracking

with his orders and apparently they (the post office) don't have a

computer to generate them.  Sounds like Macau is not such a good

place for internet based business...

i just got the e-mail too.....what a shame.....

Sad to hear, I have bought many items from him too. The postal charges are getting out of hand. I know the UK is about double what we pay to send something. What costa me $37 USD to send to UK costs a UK person $60 USD[:(]

Hi Guys.

Again, a sad loss.

Anyone putting an order in (20% off or not) please let me know, as it's not economical to pay the full whack on postage for one part I need.

Cheers.

Yeah - I too was sad to hear he was just moving to selling bearings only - I voted to keep the spares side of things going. Got a nice ABC Hobby shell off him a month or so back for a very reasonable price including shipping.

Shipping is the killer for me though buying as a UK resident. By the time I factor in shipping on bigger items its rarely worth the chance that I will get caught on the import duty.

Smaller items are still a different story, especially harder to find ones. The likes of Jason's ebay store are still very cheap and arrive usually within 3-5 days, and cost less than sourcing in the UK.

Fewer suppliers to choose from is always a bad thing as far as I am concerned, but I guess the available business can only support a finite number of suppliers, and these days buyer loyalty is virtually non-existent with things being very price sensitive.

I'm well Gutted about this! i only ever managed to get a couple of things from ebay off them. But Push_rod kindly pointed me in the area of there website. many a evening has been spent brooling over the m chassis tech racing parts. Were the badword am i going to find parts like that now huh! it's allways a shame when a great sorce or rc parts has to close it's doors, but it seems to be happening alot these days.

p.s. anyone got tech racing hop-ups for a m chassis beetle? i need my hop-up fix!

Also for me a sad day for Tamiya fans as his service and prices were superb, also never got stung on customs with his parcels. Shame that less then 50% voted, hope he will come back one day...

I already miss his service: It's prety hard these days to find a reliable source for original trf414 (not M) these days.

Anyone can recomend a seller as courteous quick & cheap as Joaquim (just have to find a new provider now...).
