Are any of these interchangeable?  I was thinking about trying a

Dynatech armature in my RX 540SD - any one ever tried something like

this?  Are any of the Tamiya motor parts interchangeable?

After comparing the Technigold 540VZ with the RX 540SD, I noticed they are very

similar in design- are there any differences besides the turn count?

Actually the dynatech 01R hop up armature was a suitable to the technigold: it offered more rpms / less torque. This armature had much less weight (flat sides). As for the techni series, the armature and brushes can be exchanged without any problems. Note however that the beefy one was the technigold, not the other two theat were much more mild.

THanks!

So, when you say the Techni-series, does this include the Dynatech

motors? Or are the Dynatechs different than the Techni-motors? I wanted

to replace the armature in my RX 540SD with a Dynatech 02H armature

since they're pretty cheap and available.  I'm not necessarily

looking for an increase in performance, just quick fix for a worn out

comm.

Actually, you can swap a rx540vz technigold armature into a standard RS540S mabuchi motor for greater torque and speed. I did this years ago, bought a new armature from my local hobbyshop as I saw that the whole rx540vz motor wouldn't fit into the sand scorchers gearbox without milling it, and thus having no more water protection.

The technigold motor is alot better in several ways, I seem to remember the hobbyshop claiming it had ballraces inside where the rs540s only has some kind of metal bearing,

One shim needed to be taken out from the motor though, as I discovered that the motor lost it's speed very fast when appliying the throttle, from the heat expansion, and things being too tight I reccon.

After this I had a way fasther scorcher!

Nice tip Tilstad -

I guess that means you could use a 27T stock rotor in the 540 Super Duty can?

I have no idea, since I havent tried it myself. Don't they make faster and more torquey motors then the rx540vz technigold but with the same outer dimensions as the RS540S today?

Yeah, I'm sure they make 'em, I just wanted to keep that old motor

running as long as possible.  I have buckets of old 540sh motors

here, and thought they'd make a nice source of spare rotors.

Maybe I'll get some time tonight and see if it fits.
