Does any of the club members out there in the US have there kits insured? The hardest thing I have not been able to locate is an appraiser, someone whom knows the value of our prizes and would be accepted by insurance companies. Which leads to the real question, can anyone refer an appraiser?

I would love to hear thoughts and suggestions, both from the UK and US. Thanks all. Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season!

I am not sure about the rest of the country, but here in Kentucky there really aren't very many clubs that race cars let alone have folks insure them. I am sure that you could take a general insurance policy and assign any value that you would like to it. More than likely it would fall under your house or apartment insurance.

I have many collectables. From Star wars to RC Cars and a lot of things inbetween. Why my agent told me to do was have a high enough insurance policy to cover not only house, but contents. Further, take pics, LOTS-O-Pics for justification. With things like this, insurance company's will go off replacement value of like kind, the more you have documented the better chance you have.

My agent said where you cannot find someone to document and appraise, you need to document condition, pics and so on yourself. This way you are prepared encase something happends. I have not found a person/company to document and appraise most of my collectables.

Oh, store these docs/pics someplace OTHER than your house, for obvious reasons.

Hope this helps.
