Got a "new one" today.

Basicly this looked just like a payment receipt emailed from paypal.

Then it says I've paid $205 for some kinda 24k gold thing. I thought "Whats that all about then??!"...

Then it says "press here to cancel the payment.."

So I figured something was fishy, and sure enough the link leads to some kind of bogus site.

I almost fell for it. Make sure you don't B)

If you pressed the link, then you should log into paypal from your regular means and change your password. Also run a virus scan, and clean out temporary files and cookies. I pressed the link once, and sure enough, they got some of my info just from a couple seconds on the fake site that looked exactly like paypal opening page. Yes, just by pressing the link, you have fell for the game. Be careful!

Well, I don't change my password, it's the responsebility of PayPal to protect my account, simple.

There also might be running a "record button hit program" on your IP, so you may give your new password away...

I got several fake emails from PayPal too.

Something like:

"We are updating out server and we want to verify your account data"

With a link of course...

If you typed your password on a bogus link you better change it ASAP. Also if you did so, its not Paypals responsibiliy anymore as you didn't do what they (and every bank) writes everywhere, which is to log in by typing the link and not clicking on a URL.

Cheers

Exactly, good point!!!

But the bogus link sometimes looks like PayPal's own...

Not everyone sees that immidiately.

Beter warned twice than sorry once.

Whats that all about then?? I don't trust anyone with my passwords except me.....Paypal are likely to drop you like a hot potato for clicking on a URL.

That's not what I meant.

PayPal is not responcible for your actions on a bogus link, you are right about that.

But if someone steals my money (and cracks my password) it's their responcibility for not taking care about the safety of my account.

Hmm... I doubt they'd give a monkeys.

Paypal are not exactly the friendliest financial company to deal with - have a few hours reading www.paypalsucks.com if you think they'd give you your money back or care that you lost it in the first place.

You've got to remember they're part of eBay, the company that likes to send you random and unhelpful automated replies to every question you'll ever put to them...  until you give up...

Your right that paypal should be responsible for your money , but if you have ever dealt with them over the phone you will realise its not wise to leave any money in your paypal account.

Yeah, you're right also but it's all about money...

Even more important is HOW you say things, we're only human.

I prefer email, that way you can read things back, makes it clear.

Sometimes people don't understand what I mean and get angry or annoyed/offended or something like that.

But sometimes it works just like a dream (I made some very good deals because we were on the same "level"...).
