The Rules - read and understand.

Recommended Posts

The problem with scammers plaguing this and other hobbies, via forums and auction sites around the web has reached a level where as a club, we have to do what we can to protect our members. Because of this we have decided to start a new forum just for reporting such people, in the hope of providing a centralised resource for information and also to reclaim our forums from all the posts spreading around the forums warning people and hiding the real information that people come to this site for.

Because of legal reasons this forum has to be tightly controlled, it is not a place to raise every single trade you've ever had where you feel 'a bit hard done by' The following is a list of guidelines that must be adhered to if you want to post here.

You must show you have taken it as far as you can with the relevant people. ie left negative feedback or contacted police etc.

(Posting in this forum is not an alternative to doing things the proper way)

You must not incite the use of violence in any way. This include advising people to make 'home visits' - which is effectively advising people to go into situations you know nothing about.

You must not incite people to break ebay rules or interfere with auctions.

You must not use any sort bad language (implied, misspelt or otherwise) regardless of what they have done.

You must not post full postal address details, although you can offer them on email

You MAY post links to live and past auctions

You must provide a reasonable amount of proof of potential scamming. Low prices, nice items and zero feedback is not enough. "This MIGHT be a dodgy seller" is not enough

You must not use any sort of racial references based on stereotypes or anything else.

You must not post recognisable full postal address or telephone numbers.

Posts must not be in all capitals

This is not a forum to 'vent your anger', its is not a forum 'to get things off your chest'. Its a forum for calmly based FACTS so that others can make up their own minds. No matter how just you feel cause is - if it goes against any of the above rules it will be removed, not edited. ANY TYPE of aggressive post will be removed.</P>

This is not a forum to complain you have been in a trade and what you got wasn't as nice as you expected. Its for serious scams only ones where people can lose money. Buyers that don't pay are not scammer, they are just bad ebayers and not to be discussed here. If you find yourself starting a post with something like "Do you think this guy is pulling a scam?" then DON'T Post.

Ideally all posts should follow the same format

Post title: Scammer name and type of scam (copied item/ stolen pictures/ etc etc)

EbayID if applicable

Link to auction

Link to other auctions or feedbacks if relevant

Solid reasons why you think the person is a scammer.

Replies are allowed IF they add to the FACTS. "I have also been ripped off by this guy" with dates and details would be fine. Simple opinion posts like "Yeah, these short of people should be locked up" etc they will be removed. The onus is on you to be sure of your facts before posting.

Anyone who we feel uses this this forum for the wrong reasons, will be barred from posting in it and potentially have all their posts moderated before they appear anywhere in the forum.

This is a serious forum, with serious rules and consequences. Please be sure you understand everything before posting. 'Joke' posts will be treated the same way as malicious posts.

Warning posts will not now be allowed anywhere else in the forum, only here. People can personalise their view of the forum and choose to display this or not. You can subscribe to the forum and be emailed each time a new scam is posted.

Should any sort of legal request be presented to the club from a recognised body regarding any posts made we will co-operate fully and supply whatever details are requested of us. Basically you will be 100% liable for anything you post.

If we all use it wisely this forum will be a great resource for us all making all our transactions that bit safer. If it abused, then first accounts will be suspended and if it becomes too much a management task it will be removed and we will go back to not allowing this sort of post.

Basically at the end of the day, all we are asking is people gather as much facts as they can, and then they post their findings calmly, without resulting to childish name calling etc.

Emails regarding deleted or edited posts will be automated and chances are just refer you back to this post. We will not be emailing personal explanations to anyone that does not follow these rules. If you do not understand them then please contact one of the moderators BEFORE posting.

If you wish to post here then email me, to say you have read and understood these rules. (access may take 24hrs but will normally be less than 12hrs - This is not an excuse to go and make your post somewhere else in the forum.)

If you really want to help other members then none of the above is too much to ask.
