[:@] Sorry but I just do! It's an awfull system and finding the posts that you want is a lottery. What was wrong with the old system anyway???

There is no facility to look for thread titles and putting in a key word does not really help. I just dont like it.

All I wanted to do was find last years thread discussing the revealed re-release of the grasshopper and lunch box but I just cannot find it and its very annnoying.

Can someone point me to the old forums so I can you use the old search facility?

Hmm...  I think you have a valid point.

Hadn't really tried it until now.  Was trying to find the Kidderminster thread in Meetings and Events to post up "when is the next meet here..." into the thread.

No luck finding it at all.  [:^)]

There still appears to be a couple of issues in this area. At the moment I am trying to work out if its related to a bug in the search system or a problem with all the posts that were migrated across from the old system.

It will be fixed and when it is it should be better as its actually built on the same sort of engine as google.

The need for the change of the forum has been covered before in other threads, search in particular is one area that should reap the rewards in the long run as the old system was getting harder and harder to maintain and process as the number of posts grew.

At the moment you definately are not seeing the search working on all four cylinders

There does seem to be a glitch;

Search for ripper on the new forums, I get 6 results, 5 in the same thread.

On the old forums, there's 5 PAGES of results.

It's not a date thing - if you search for twinset posted by netsmithuk - you get results going back to 2002, but in April 2005, the Gmade in the puddles post had 'ripper' in it, but didn't show on the search above [8-)]

Dont want to sound too critical about it...it's just frustrating when you have been used to a tried and tested formula thats all!

Must agree with above, new search has too few options and still seems buggy, finding mainly stuff till 2003, just compare seach on "Frog 1/16" with the old and new one, new one finds mainly less relevants posts till 2003, while old seach despite not being to able to find new topics finds mainly topics from 2005

I agree, Wandy.

The search hasn't been working for some time now.  Kinda cuts out

the 'usefullness' of this forum.  Hopefully the problems will be

ironed out when Chris does the code changes on the 27th[:|]

as I said in my first post its a bug. I know have the fix which will be deloyed as part of Fridays update.

It will then take another 48hrs or so to fully index the posts during which time - the results returned from any search will be incomplete.

After that it should be fine and fast. Also I have the option of adding new types of searches in the future (such as the old style snitz type)
