Ok its not a fully blown events calender system but it should be a lot better than what we had before if people use it sensibly.

First off the rules.

It is for posting information about RC related events only and members birthdays (although this might be reviewed)

Its NOT for using as an alternative for you daily diary and just publicising any post you make a little more. As each member uses it for something that the moderators do not think is suitable, the item will be removed, the rules updated and you emailed.

OK How do you post an event.

Thats easy, in the tool bar above your post the last icon on the bottom row should look like a calender. Click it and you can select one date for your event. - you will see it insert some code into your post. You can just enter this code by hand if you wish - its simply

(cal)dd-mm-yyyy(/cal) - but replace the ( & ) with [ & ]

Whatever you enter in the Subject of the post will display next to the post in the calender.

[cal]03-02-2006[/cal]

REMEMBER MEMBER BIRTHDAYS AND RC RELATED EVENTS ONLY. Anything else will be deleted - including 'test' posts. If you want to test it then test it when you have a real event to publicise.

Ok I figured it out!!

Don't use the date picker as it enters the wrong date!!

i.e My birthday it gives 02-05-2006 which doesn't work it's the wrong format it should be 05-02-2006 which works great!!

Looks like the "My Birthday" posts are going to fill this forum up! And everyone thinks it's my birthday now, I'm just waiting for all the presents now [:P]

Chris, would it be worth starting a single "Members Birthday and Events" thread with instructions at the top so people could put all their birthdays and events in there? Just a thought.

A big of the problem is the date doesn't appear in the post itself. So people are seeing titles like "my birthday!" but don't see the date which is in the calender for later in the year.

Its going to be one of the tips - besure to include the date in the open text of your post.

I'm ahead of you Jozza and will be cleaning up later tonight.
Cool, nice work Chris. I still like the idea of having my official birthday today, before the real one though [;)]

Not sure if this is just me or if you're aware of it Chris, but when I click on the Calender link it just comes up with this error message:

We are currently unable to serve your request

We apologize, but an error occurred and your request could not be completed.

This error has been logged.

It's been like this for the past couple of days.

Same here- if I hit the tab at the top of the page, I always get the same message.

(By the way: I never did figure out how to get my B-day on the calendar..)

At the moment its still unclear. I've got a big update to the forum to do, but one of the things stopping me at the moment is its still not clear wether some features will be fixed and I'm trying to resolve all the issues in one hit.

Should only be a few days though
