i had my original lunchbox up for sale on ebay. my terms and conditions clearly state contact within 24 hours and payment within four day or negative feedback left. the buyer made no contact for two days then only after two invoices sent and i was told he would pay when he had the funds which is not what i want. sent a few emails not to bad but in the last one very abusive with four letter wording and asked me to phone. which i did he says he can pay when he likes i said if he didnt agree with my terms he shouldnt have bid and the same goes if he doesnt have the funds to pay. the worst of this is its a fellow tamiya club member if anyone wants further details and to read the emails contaxt me by email

  Huff,

that really sucks chap. You dont expect to get grief like that from fellow Tc members.  Its not on. We all know the rules when it comes to bidding. If they did not agree to your terms and condtions then they should not have bid. Their bid is a legally bidding contract so maybe in future they should take greater care over what they are reading.

I have bought from you via Tc and ebay and have found you to be easy to deal with and your descriptions always match the items in question. Keep up the good work Huff and dont let one or two silly bidders ruin it for you.

All the best.

Well i have been approached by the same tamiya club member , it was about my red hopped up wild dagger made a bit of an insulting offer but i didnt get upset by that as it was left open to offers , but it was what he said next which upset me was that all he said he was gonna do was strip it of the hopups and make it standard and ebay it ,which means hes using tamiyaclub to get cheap cars to make a good profit on ebay , which i didnt think was the goal of the club , i thought it was supposed to be for like minded people to help each other restoring , running shelf queening rc models , mind hes not the only 1 doing it mind , i think this takes something away from the club and i wont be trading with any members i know to do this as i spend a lot of time on my models not to mention money and i dont want to see them broken up and on ebay the next week , if you feel the same as me i would advise you not to trade with these people but that been said its your choice .

I don't see a prob with people buying stuff and selling it for a profit. If someone is selling a car at say £40 and gets £40 for it then what happens to the car after that is the new owners own business.

I have done it in the past and i'm sure other people have, see a bargin buy it and sell it for a profit.

Anyway slightly off topic.

If someone on ebay doesn't read the listing they deserve bad feedback unless they compensate you for their error.

well thats not the point really doing it occasionally is fine weve all bought models we dont get on with them but its the 1s who are actually doing it as a business , and when they tell you its there only form of income an give you a sob story just to get something at a highly reduced price i have no problem with people who pay what is asked for, but i wasnt aware this was a quick buck site , its slowly going that way , its a shame blatent profiteers are able to pervert the idea i thought the club stood for when i joined over 2 years ago oh well making money has taken over another good site [:(]

As the club gets bigger, its sad but I guess being a member is going to mean less to people. I can't really see a way around it as until someone has been here a while its a bit hard to tell what sort of person they are. I guess its an experience thing that you get to know those people that you like and trust and then tend to deal with them most, anyone else you should treat with caution the first few tims. I'm thinking of giving subcribers the option of both hiding sales from people they do not wish to deal with and highlighting those they like.

All that said, if this is an ebay isse and the guys broke your terms you should report him, leave a negative and then block him from future auctions. If you want to help others and actually make a difference to the guy, far more people will read his feedback on ebay then will ever see this thread.

hi thanks for all the comments and emails. thanks to chris for hts comment. i have made a second chance offer to the next bidder down and will file an non paying bidder report as soon as ebay allows which is 7 days.and forwarding all the emails his and mine at the same time . when that is done i will also be leaveing negative feedback. which im sure i will get in return lol. i only started this thread to warn other tamiya club members as it was a member i was dealing with.

Posted

well huff i think your right to post here as a responsible member of both communities i do think as chris has said  a sorta thing like the bidders ban list should be introduced (if it can be) as if this guy contacts me again i wont be happy but i dont think he will i made my feelings plain , also in light of this i think an id history is called for with the spate of members changing there ids this might be quite innocent in most cases , but i hope you all can agree there could be more sinister reasons for it

i have just noticed that chris has a section for dodgy dealers. Those of you with genuine misfortune to have been ripped off by fellow member should make full use of this section. There are quite a few rules to that bit so make sure you read it all properly to make sure your particular gripes fit in with them. Then those no - hopers will have a more difficult time, and I am sure there ebay accounts will end up suffering too with the amount some of you lot spend there LOL

wow... that's really bad. I wonder what makes that person feel like they're entitled to treat other people so badly? seriously, what's the world coming to now-a-days?

What a (insert required expletive here)!!

Don't people understand that by bidding on an auction(ANY auction not just eBay) that they are entering a LEGALLY binding agreement and that they accept the sellers terms and conditions??

Even if you don't put your own T's&C's on your auction Ebay say you should contact the seller within 3 days!!

I can just imagine what response I'd get if I went to my local auction house and bid on an item and after winning it I said 'I'll pay next week when I've got the cash!!'[:o]

well i totally agree with you fatboyslim its also bad that this member says this is his only form of income surely he would want to protect his reputation , i honestly dont think this guy has any kinda love for the hobby except £££££ , but i know what will happen next is that he will change his user name on on the club an revamp his showroom trying to look like a different member to the ends of getting people to deal with him again, as theres no id history like ebay has , i think it would be a good idea to impliment an id history , maybe a section for feedback on the forms with a link from the trade room so its easy to find , and that would go for good and bad trading .

i totaly agree that this member shouldnt of even bid never mind being abusive ive sold to huff and he's/ your very polite and respectfull and as for the other member making a profit from 1proteus1 as already said we all sometimes get cars we dont get on with for one reason or another but then there are members like this and due to the size of the club now we will always have this problem in one form or another

but i think making a feedback forum may cause more arguements than its worth but tc members should treat each other with respect and anyone who doesnt should be put in a possition where they are named maybe by an alert in the forums where you email for an automated response to tell you who the member/s is/are ?

most of us are easy going and will give a little on sales and trades but why do people always want to take advantage ?

please huff and proteus email me and let me know who these people are so i can avoid dealing with them

sorry to go on and hope i havnt offended anyone

"i think it would be a good idea to impliment an id history"

As you said it couldn't be done as someone could try to make a new or double TC ID, like many do also in ebay.

Cheers

thanks for your comment theo. i dont really see the need for changes of names on the club. i can understand it on ebay as there have been people joining just to leave bad feedback and mess up other ebayers feedback. i had one of these on ebay thats why i change my id there and start feedback from scratch as it affected my sales.but why someone who has a good name for deals on tc would want to do that i dont know. its getting confusing now as you never know who your talking to lol.

i dont know whats going on with ebay. this buyer last week was marked as no lomger a registered user. i check again today and that as been removed and he is again registered. so i have now left negative feedback. perhaps he didnt think i would check again and would get away with no negative feedback. well seeing i lost money on the sale of this car because of his activity. i will now be complaining to ebay and sending all the email which i kept im glad to say.

how do you tell if someone is no longer registered with with ebay from a buyers point of view?I sent someone payment for an item and i`ve heard nothing from them, despite emailing them twice.

this is the latest left on my feedback by andy - just proves what a porkies he tells lets you all know what sort of trader he is and hes a tc member shows you how down hill this is going.if this is the style of new members im glad i wont be soon. hes emailed me trying to get me to remove the feedback and this is just his latest attempt. no chance i wouldnt remove it even if it ruins all my sales.
