I think we should have an official contest to see who can guess the next re-release. For example, everyone put in $1 (one vote only) into the pot. The pot will be kept by the administrator. The winner(s) will split the pot upon the announcement of the re-release.

I'm guessing the Egress is around the corner (at least, I'm telling myself that to avoid loading up on Avantes).

I think a Super Champ rere was at least planned.

Why does the black rere FRP chassis have the additional mounting holes a Super Champ needs if not? :D

It would make sense to re issue it for sure although would it not be easier to re issue the Ford Ranger, just a new body would be needed plus a few other small details? Although if the body mould was still readily available would Tamiya not have considered the Black Foot earlier when the Frog and Subaru Brat graced us?

Just re issue them all Tamiya, i won't hold it against you i promise

i thought that about the ss /buggy champ chassis too.

if corpse thrower is right and the ranger is to be released later next year,(the easier option to rere)maybe a super champ for 2012?

Simply because they used the old tooling as there was no need to do any mods for the Buggy Champ.

I don't think there will be another SRB variant but if I'm wrong (and I hope I am) then I too think it will be the XLT. Absolutely no additional parts need to be brought back into production except for the bodyshell. The Super Champ would need a fair few extra chassis bits in addition to the existing SRB ones in the BC/SS kits.

I can only see the XLT coming back though if there is a large amount of unsold SRB kit parts that they need to get rid of. However I do hope it comes as the XLT was actually the 1st Tamiya I got to have a go of as my cousin got one a few months before I got my Hotshot in 1985.

Is it only me seeing the prices coming down for nib Porsche 959 58059 and Celica 58064 kits?

There are also many new parts offered on the bay right now.

I bought a nib Celica kit this week for (only) EUR 600 from Switzerland. Only the tyre blister was not included but two sets of white and yellow wheels + new rally and slick tyres.... :)

Are there perhaps new rumours of a re-release?

Blitzer Beetle is also coming . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :) .

I have no news on this???

I have been told by a reliable source, that the re-releases will go out with a bang and I can't think of a more suitable one than the Avante!

Most re-res been in two!

So I guess that the Blitzer will be two as well...

Why would Tamiya NOT want to score some bucks as the vintage market flows with money.

It wouldnt surprice me if the 3-speed would appear in the future, maybe not 100% re-production but close...

And I would defintly like a Blazer :)

I have looked longingly at these in people's showrooms for as long as I can remember.

We all seem to have our sources and I have heard from a pretty reliable one that the re-releases will continue until 2012 at the very least so I don't think the Avante is their ultimate showstopper. I believe, like Badboy, that the Bruiser will make a comeback and at the same time they will delete on or two of the current plastic 3 speeds. I'm also in the camp that believes the Blitzer Beetle will arrive soon too, and the Astute will come to complete the coffee promo selection.

Really though, as long as each re-release sells well enough there is every reason to suggest this will go on & on for the forseeable future. I don't believe the company have drawn up a line in which they will be saying "enough".

We won't see a vintage style 3 speed....we may see a Blazer on the high-lift chassis, but that's all we could hope for.

Blitzer is pretty likely, monster beetle won't happen. I'm tipping the next re releases are the ford ranger and possibly the Lancia Rally.

I think with all the posts with people saying categorically that "Kit X will not be released because..." only to turn round and have to eat their words months down the line, I would adopt the position that "anything is possible".

One thing that did cross my mind with some of the arguments against the likelihood of certain re-re's was that Tamiya are only likely to release a certain car if the sales of it would be worth their while. I wonder though whether even if something like the Scorcher didn't sell enough to break even, do these re-res get released as a way of raising Tamiya's profile in the sea of RTRs and the like. I wonder if people who were in the market for a kit, saw something they recognised like a Lunchbox or Sand Scorcher, and maybe bought a different Tamiya car they preferred which they wouldn't have otherwise considered had the one they recognised not been there to draw their eye to the Tamiya section?

I don't think we should be looking at the viability of re-re's in isolation, but really examine their role in Tamiyas entire range.

Never say never. People have on this site countless times before, and been wrong where re-re's are concerned.

I'd like to see the Porsche 956 and Toyota Toms 84C re-released, I know alot of people who had those kits :) I emailed Tamiya a few years ago and they didnt confirm of deny if they were going to re-release them (this was before the re-releasing of kits started to happen) Fingers Crossed :D

Too right, the majority in fact :)

Tamiya clearly have a habit of surprising us, the Avante more so than that pathetic attempt at a Holiday Buggy! A vintage 3-speed re issue could grace us you never know.......

I would love to see a re release of a 3 speed, I have a few bruisers, mountys, a blazer and hilux but I just don't see it happening. I would love for tamiya to prove me wrong, but with the high lift/hilux with a 3 speed trans, leaf spring, solid axle and a mountaineer body you have yourself a "holiday buggy" 3 speed release.

Also look at all of the sand scorcher/buggy champs sitting on shelves in hobby shops. Collectors like you and me bought them but there really doesn't seem to be much market out there besides that. Lets say tamiya re-releases a bruiser (just for example) now the kit cost X amount of money. For you and me we would buy one, maybe build it and enjoy it on a level that maybe we enjoyed it 20 some years ago. However if you were a none classic tamiya RC guy or gal, how disappointed would you be after spending X amount of dollars for lack luster performance compared to today's rc trucks?

I'm not saying they wont, and really I think it would be cool to build one from nib, please please please tamiya prove me wrong....

Like I said, how many hobby shops are "stuck" with sand scorcher and buggy champs, do you think they will order a bunch of bruisers (again for example) too?

Re release are cool, I just got a re re hornet for Christmas, but really if they re release everything, whats to stop them from re re releasing everything again 15-20 years from now?

So instead of re releasing a hole kit, how about re releasing body sets, decals, parts trees for some of the classic tamiya stuff?

I hope I can come back to this post a few months/years from now and eat my own words.
