Hi everyone

I am currently fixing a Twin Det, and I have uprated the stock motors to 2 Type Ts. The ESC at the moment I have gotten is the Super Rooster from Novak which is has unlimited motor turns.

Would the ESC take the load from a twin 11Ts and will the truck be able to handle the power?

Hi WillyChang

Not too sure about the number of turns for the type T but its better than the stock motors....I wanted to get more power for off-road bashing so.....I am re-considering the 11T as you mentioned.

Reading the instruction of the ESC, parallel connection of the two motors gives the best power but the load on the ESC is much higher as opposed to series connection.......soooooo if I happened to upgrade the motors I might just blow the ESC......

So I was hoping someone here has done this before......

Take into account that a low turn engine does only offer limited amount of torque (power is obtained through higher RPMs) they are consequently not the best solution for trucks were brute force is much better. If I were rich enough I would fit my clod with twin technigolds (17500 rpms only but 450 gr of torque...). A safe bet would be for a couple of modified 20 turns engines.

If you want to go for low turns engine you will also have to invest in shorter gear ratios and take into account that your truck will feel sluggish until the engine reaches its optimal number of rpms.

Also, when getting upgraded motors for the Twin Detonator, remember that one of them will always be going backwards. Most stock and mod motors are built to run better forwards than in reverse, so you are immediately strangling one of them if you put them in a Twin Det or similar twin motor chassis.

You can get motors for twin motor trucks which are specifically designed to run in reverse.

Gosh......thanks for the input......I am confused.....whahahhahahaa....but I will digest what has been adviced.....

So the 11T's out.......thank goodness I did not exchange my type T for the 11T

Yes, but most nowadays have also adjustable timing, so you just need to rotate the endbell 180° [8D]

No no no... you also want it REVERSE TIMING..! [B)]

Turning the endbell 180deg will make it run backwards, but that's

just the same as swapping the wires over. The motor's timing

will still be retarded (= opposite of advanced?).

But you can adjust it, just advance it in the reverse direction.

eg a mod motor might be advanced at the factory say 10 degs.

You want to turn this: 180deg + 2x(10deg) = 200 degs.

Only a modified motor can be adjusted;

a 'stock' motor's timing is always fixed.

With the Mabuchi RS540-SH... this thing is zero-timed so it

should (in theory) work equally well in either direction.
