Hi all,

I'm trying to get involved in rock crawling and have decided to go for a clod based truck. I've looked on the forums such as "rccrawler" and "clodtalk" but wanted your opinion on what the best/value for money clod chassis is?? I've searched this forum and read up on older threads but thought I would start a new one as I didn't know what new chassis are now available.

The gecko chassis from rcguy looks good also the NN chassis from "thecrawlerstore".

I have also found the razor chassis from ryan coombes which he hand builds and wondered how these perform??

Look forward to your views and opinions cheers, Colin.

For pure crawling the Gecko & Stick chassis are probably best.  However for something different check these options:

My G-Made Dragoon:

Twinset's G-Made Spider:

http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...278&sid=169

beppieta's Feather-Lite:

Also check RC4wd, ESP.  Both company's make variations.  Best bet, check the rides in the ClodBuster Models Sections:

Hope this helps [:)]

Thanks for your replies been looking around, the stick chassis looks good but I don't need a serious competition chassis.

"richytanimal" unfortuantly I couldn't download the video as it was going to take ages[:(]. But the gecko 60/40 kit looks good.

"backtomyroots"  I've seen the dragoon before but does it crawl quite well, as well as being a good basher??

There is one problem though, as I've only ever owned a nitro before I have no idea about electrical motors, esc's etc. Is there a web page that helps newbies with electrical rc??

Thanks, Colin.

Seeing as no one replied I had to go look for the info myself. I'm slowly building my knowledge of motors and esc's etc. [:)]

"backtomyroots" were G-Made easy to deal with regarding info and shipping?

Hey Col87.  To be honest my Dragoon is a shelf queen - I have tested it once I would say it is more of a "basher".  Twinset had the "spider" chassis (in his showroom) and I think he was very satisfied with its performance.  The quality of parts is unbelievable and look great.  Search the forums for electrical questions on clod motor/esc combo's.  I got my G-Made from a seller on ebay named "cho78" and the transaction was great - with lightning fast shipping !  Here's a link to his store:

Yup,Christopher's right,  the Dragoon and Spider are more 'basher' than what is the the current 'crawler' - a year ago, they'd have made it [:)]

For real crawler performance (on a competition scale) the Stick or something similar to Egressor's are the style to look at.

If you're not that serious yet (I know I'm not) the NN chassis from http://www.thecrawlerstore.com/NN.htm is a stunning truck  - very adjustable and very capable.

Download the two vids halfway down the page - it's using Clod axles with 2.2'' tires
