Well, I have a stock Clodbuster but I don't have a TXT-1. I can tell you that the Clodbuster is limited in performance. The friction shocks are a joke, it's basicly coil spring on a cylinder that makes the truck bounce all over the place because the travel is short. So jumping with a Clod is a bad idea.

I'm sure that the TXT is MUCH better, that's why it's more expensive. It's equipped with oil shocks and cantilever. It should turn better since it needs a second servo for 4WS.

I still love my Clodbuster, for the price, you can't go wrong. I keep running mine in the snow, I abuse the heck out of it and it's still running strong.

I'm no expert, but the TXT is better.

hi!!

i've owned my clod runner for years now, and only recently got a txt-1. both my trucks are just about stock, apart from a few aluminium extras on the clod buster.

here they are: [;)]

obviously, the txt-1 is the newer, more expensive, more technically advanced truck. its got litrally years of development behind it and is simply tamiyas best solid axel monster truck, and problably the best 1/10 scale solid axel electric monster truck available [H]

the txt-1 has all the advantages of aluminium, a longer wheelbase, a full time shaft driven 4wd system, axel located steering servos and amazing canterlever suspension - with well over 9 inches of travel even in stock form.

the big sispension allows the txt-1 to take bumps and jumps far better than the clod can. the steering is more effective on the txt-1, the clod steering is ok, but outdated - remember it was released way back in 87.

however!

the clod can be transformed with endless hop ups available, in fact so many hop up bits are made for the clod, you can build one and not use a single tamiya part. but it does take alot of money to make a txt-1 beating clod buster.

the choice isint easy, if you cant get both then go for the one which you think suits you best [:D]

I've owned both stock and hopped up and I think the TXT is the better truck for racing stock. If you want to spend tons on a chassis then get the Clod for racing.

Wow, can of worms here.  If you want to have some fun out of the box TXT-1.  To make the clod any fun the cost adds up too quickly, the TXT-1 is easily made quicker with just mod motors but the clod needs to be completely rebuilt.  You can see my showroom for an example of each.

I have a Clod with stock chassis, but I have full bearings, ESP Lift Kit, ESP Chassis Stiffner, Traxxas Big Bore Oil Shocks and X Star motors. It is an okay piece of machinary, but would not even compare to the TXT-1 unless you got an after market chassis set up for the Clod. But my clod does hold it's own. Here it is getting some good air time!
