Anybody else have this dilemma with their Alfa? I've cut as much as I can around the left side of the wheelwell, but the tire still rubs while turning.[:(] Suggestions?

I can't seem to get it aligned like this one..

Your body mount on that side looks like it's pushed/tilted backward causing the body misalignment. Loosen the body mount, push it toward the other direction and retighten the screw.

I just don't get it, I've been at this for a couple hours. Maybe they gave me a body for the m04 instead of m04m? The m04, i think, is shorter.[8)]

This one is an m04..

I think the car in the Tamiya show has it's wheels turned slightly which makes it look better aligned.

Tamiya might have turned the wheel because they know it is misaligned when it is straight!!...[;)]

I bet if the Tamiya show car is to put to use, it will rub the tires too. I have finished mi[:I]ne for a while, could not recall the exact details, but I always tried to raise the shell a bit when I ran it.

Thanks guys. I bent the two front body posts a little bit and seems cool now. This chassis and body needs to fit perfect if you don't want any rubbing. I guess thats the "modelling" aspect of this hobby. 99% is set from the factory, the 1% might need some creativity.

I notice that the car in the Tamiya show has the wheels painted silver actually... I did this to mine (all credit to those who've already done this and posted in their showrooms!) and it looks so much better than stock!

It also seems that you have the S-Grip tyres on the front.. are you going to be running it?! I tried this as I initially didn't want to shred the softer compound in a couple of packs, but it's practically undrivable with the hard tyres on the rear - nothing but wheelspin! [:D]

After one very careful pack, I've put mine on the shelf now.. that body (especially in dark Metallic Red [8D]) is just too good to trash in a roll-over!

Cheers,

Tim

Carter, the alfa hasn't even touched concrete yet, carpet queen here so far. No info on tire performance yet. You're right though, it would hurt so bad to roll it.[:(]

GPZ, thanks!

Ditto the experience with the wheel arch rubbing[:0]

I ended up very carefully and gradually removing small amounts off the bodywork where it rubbed and re-seating the body mounting posts - this seemed to cure the rubbing.

This is my first Tamiya kit and I had a real blast building it. Found the window decals tricky to get right, but the car just looks fantastic - its a great re-issue by Tamiya. I fitted the oil-filled shocks and ballraced it. I'm a big fan of RWD cars and love the way this one drives.

Also agree on painting the wheels and also painting the "smoke" colour on the windows helps to give the car a really realistic look.

Sadly mine has had one or two knocks already[:(] Anyone know if its possible to buy the bodies as spares still - not seen many around on ebay / usual stockists?

Cheers,

Chris
