Folks - what's the best no limit ESC out there? I want one that, come what may, won't ever ever melt or melt the battery connector. I'd spend up to £80 i reckon, and would consider second hand through ebay. Currently running with a 7 turn motor in my TC3 hence the need for no limits...

If you are melting battery connectors I'd say you need to change them first! What are you using currentley?

Melting battery connectors is bad, try changing to a no loss connector like deans, they will give quite a bit better performance plus more run time oh yeah and less fires[].

just normal tamiya ones on a TC3 with a new no limit ESC and new battery...

i have actually melted the tips of my fingers as well trying to yank the battery from the speed controller!

i'm also using a 7turn motor for the first time. so obviously that's adding to the "burning" problem. Thing is, I want to go fast, that's why I thought a no limit ESC would cope...

It's the connectors that are the problem for sure then, the Tamiya ones just aren't efficient enough for a 7. As XanderP suggests, moving to a connector such as the Deans plug would be your best bet as these are far more efficient.

Yup, that's pretty much it! Also, what motor connectors are you using? With a low turn motor I would either direct solder or use corallys.

i have soldered these ones on to the motor and the ESC (before it melted) - from my local RC shop. just thin metal male and female parts. these not the best sort?

Are they made out of a similar material to the Tamiya connectors? If they are then they aren't up to the job either. Also, did you say your ESC melted as well? What make and model is it?

the motor/ESC connectors are the same as the Tamiya/ESC battery connectors, only without the plastic casing. They are thin metal and hook in to each other. about a quid a set. i soldered them on. all the wires are thick.

The ESC was a ripmax no limit...apparently.

I'm not a huge fan of the Ripmax ESC, I'd much rather have an LRP or Nosram item. They may be more money but they are a much higher quality product. If you are planning on keeping the 7 in the car or don't mind a bit of extra hassle when changing motors, I would direct solder for efficiency.

it has a good advantage as also it will support Novaks brushless motors too.

brilliant advice lads, thanks so much and for the links too. I think i'll direct solder the (new) ESC to the motor and go for deans for the battery

I have found power poles to be very gd. I they come apart no problems and easilt take high currents. just an idea. And I agree with Mr pushrod over esc's. Lrp ones are definately worth the money and AI set up is fantastic just plug and play. cheers Ryck
