I hope you can guess what this is...

The one who gives the correct answer will get a price (no trophy, just a price and everlasting fame of course!)

Good luck!

Oh, another thing: it's not for sale...[;)]

hi,

porsche 935 chassis with sponge tyres.

Partially correct...

I need a fully correct answer though.

Good luck!

How did you know it was a 935 instead of a 934?

hi,

okay the correct model name is "Martini Porsche 935 Turbo".

the different between the 934 and the 935 are the bumper, plastik spacer bedween chassis plate and body mount plate and speed controller. the 540 size motor incl. gear box and the battery tray are hop-ups.

Posted

It's NOT a 935 bumper and neither is the speedo...[;)]

You are on the right track but still the correct answer isn't given yet!

I will not give any hints anymore!

My guess:

935 with SP-1059 (540 motor gearcase set), SP-1054 (speedo), Countach wheels and Renault/Golf bumper ?

Lars

Close...but there's an official Tamiya name for this chassis...

It's pretty obvious once I give you the answer, really!

Lars, as I said: NO TROPHY this time, you silly!

Oh, I didn't get that, I'll lay off then (and start talking to my wife agin) LOL  ! [:D]

Ok, I can't let go: [;)] Guide Books do help...

It's a chassis from a RA-1202 with SP-1059, SP-1054, SP-1075, SP-1056 (or SP-1057) and the Golf / Renault bumper. There might possibly be some SP-1073, but that is hard to tell from the picture.

If it's made entirely from parts, the chassis would be a SP-1007 with Sp-1008, but that is unlikely because of the "plastic spacer between chassis plate and body mount plate" so well spotted by Kaindi.

Dee ? [:'(]

Kiandi gave a hint too, yes...

You're on the right track but it's not the answer to the particular question ("What is it?", not "What's it made of?")

Another hint: "Let the hints guide you"...

I'm sure they didn't use that term back then...

It is a 934,935 chassis with all Tamiya hop-up parts available for it at this time.

The bumper, speedo, motorholder and tires.

But the Diplos wont do any good on a car with zero caster.

Oh you're even closer!!!

Please answer my particular question OR give me all the exact numbers of the parts  being used.

We're almost there... [;)]

Well, your hint made it quite obvious so I checked my guidebooks last night and with 19833839 you propably mean the hopped up 935 listed in the 1983 guidebook  on pages 38-38?

Only there is an error, the picture is actually from the 1982 guidebook.

Also your replica has some small differences, parallel steering linkage is different, although linkage you used is

listed as option. The servo linkage the other way and too long.

Your motor is rotated 180° and has different capacitor(s).

You bumper is 936-type, not original 935 like in the guidebook.

The GB 935 seems to have the fully silverplated version, but it's

difficult to tell from the pic.

The GB car has regular sponge, but the Diplos you used are listed as

alternatives.

Nice and surely not cheap project though. [:)]

What do I win? [:P]

...hopped up 935...

congratulations.jpg

Exactly!

That was the only fully correct answer to my question!

Congratulations!!!

According to the spare part list these are all the official Tamiya "hop ups" (hint with the frog) for the 935 (spacers between chassis plates, that's why I didn't put a nicad in).

That means:

-SP-1014 (ABS Bumper, you need the spacers!).

-SP-1025 (Adhesive tape, lol!).

-SP-1039 (Connector set).

-SP-1054 (Speedo set).

-SP-1057 (Sponge Tire Set "Rear B" = Celica rear wheels, not Countach!).

-SP-1059 (Porsche 934/935 Gear Case & RS540 Motor Set).

-SP1068 (Ball Link & Adjuster Rod Set).

-SP-1073 Ball Bearings Set (not listed but very obvious IMHO).

-SP-1074 (Rubber Tire Set "Front A", you need the 5mm bushes to fit in the ball bearings).

-SP-1075 (Diplo Tyre Set "Front A").

-SP-1091 (Wheel Stopper Set).

Still, I need SP-1105 (Circuit Breaker) to complete this "Hopped Up 935", but I wouldn't wait any longer to show it to you guys and make a small competition of it!

I hope you all enjoyed this, I know I did!

Man, some of you were so close...!!!

But all the fame goes to THEO!!!

Well done matey!!!

Grtz Dee.

PS Theo, please mail me your address so I can send you 2 brand new "Well Nuts" or "Rubber Mounts".

Ok, maybe you can think of a (simple) question?

The one who aswers it first gets the well nuts, ok?

Ok, which is the latest Tamiya shown in catalogoues and guidebooks with a MSC?

Cheers

Simple: the SS II in the 2010 RC guide book...

Grtz Dee.

PS Simple question, difficult to answer, good choice![;)]

Ok, now I stop the butt kissin' before it gets suspicious (that's a joke).

I think the Super Clod Buster (kit 58321) was the last to come with MSC untill now, but it is not visible in the catalogue (as there is no chassis pic), only in the manual, so not sure if that counts to the exact definition of the question.

In the 2006 Catalogue, Twin Detonator (kit 58309) is clearly shown with MSC, you can see the orange unit and the resistor clearly on the chassis. Also the earlier Wild Dagger and TXT-1 are shown with MSC.
