Anybody here want to join a convoy? Tamiya trucks (possible world record!)

I have an idea to possibly organise a convoy of trucks and i'm just seeing if there is enough interest out there to persue the idea further. I have got 9 trucks to run together at the Commercial Vehicle Museum at Leyland, lancs last year (and hopefull on the 9th April this year), and thorght it would be great to try to make some sort of record attempt. I have not long started a driving job at Alton Towers Ammusement park, near my home town in Staffordshire and I feel this would make a great venue to hold such an event. It has two hotels on site and plenty of space to run trucks. I don't want to go asking for permission until I can prove that there is enough interest. I'm hoping to get us all together in September time when the kids go back to school. Hopefully a deal could be had for park tickets and rooms this time of year. What do you all think? Fancy a party?[<)]

Well there's 34 channels on 40mhz FM, 32 channels on 27mhz AM

There's also 40mhz AM but wouldn't there be a possible interference problem with the FM what with the TX's being so close??

Alton Towers sounds good but it's a bit pricey!!

£29.50 just for park entry!! Hotel rooms start from £140 B&B for a family room(couldn't find if there's single rooms!!)

There are over 35 40fm+am channels (cant run an am and fm 40 on same frequency unfortunately), am also pretty sure there is only about 10 27fm+am channels but there is also spektrum now which would make for a massive convoy!

Doesn't matter whether its AM or FM on any particular channel, they use the same *frequency* and you can't use both at same time.

Hi again, If we could get enough trucks to fill in ALL the frequencies together then we could at least be the FIRST to run that quantity of trucks. Are there any 'split' crystals for 40 meg? I know they are available for 27 meg. I need to know how much support I have in this venture before I approach Towers managers. It is a waste of time asking them for discounts etc.... if there is not going to be enough trucks to make it a big publicity tool for them. I'm sure a decent hotel rate could be had if the run is in mid September as this is basicaly low season to them. I am prepared to do the legwork, but to make it work I NEED YOU ALL to support me. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you all, Neil.

Yeh count me in, with 5 trucks the lan truck is on 27mhz and that would defeintly be in the convoy   Cheers Ant

Frequencies that end in a 0 are NOT LEGAL R/C use in this country Rich, only Japan Matey, i've got a FF6 on "77" and that is illegal in this country.

I now have sent letters out to AT people, Just waiting for a reply. Guinness have sent me the forms to fill so it looks as though they should be involved. i may look into expanding the event for you lot who run other stuff. Will see.

As you can see,  A bit of a blow. Okay AT is out. I have not give up on the venture. It will probably not be this year, but I will be up to do this, Guinness have expressed an interest so it is doable.Any ideas, let me know. Thank you for your support, Neil.
