Well I thought with quite a bit of discussion about peoples not so good trading experiences it might be good to relate a happier tale that wouldn't have come about with the help of TC [:)].

First a bit of background. I have recently been getting into building projects based on modified Tamiya M-04 chassis's and in particular have developed a real fondness for the ABC Hobby produced Lancia Stratos rally car shells. After a while looking on ebay and posting about my Stratos project on the forums here another TC member, (thesuper), sent me a link to an ABC Stratos shell for sale through Walawala store - one of only about 2 or 3 he had in stock.

Sadly since that find the larger Stratos shell has been really tricky to find anywhere, even via the usual Japan / HK sellers on ebay. Anyway, I had a few other projects in mind based on the M-04 (the Carson 70's BMW tourer and an HPI vintage Camaro shelled M-04), so I also needed to source more M-04 chassis parts. Up until now I had been using the Mazda Eunos re-re kits and then selling on the body and wheels etc to try and recoup my costs. Sadly these are becoming harder to find at a decent price as I think they may now be out of production again. The only other M-04 that was asuitable donor and easily available in the UK was the Alfa GTA, but the kit price makes it an expensive option.

So I decided to put a wanted ad on TC for M-04 parts. As a result another TC member (JapanScaleDriver) offered to get hold of the chassis parts from 2 M-04 kits for me by breaking two kits for a very reasonable price. I also then mentioned to him about the trouble I was having getting hold of the ABC Hobby Stratos shells. The end result was he offered to send me an ABC Hobby stratos shell plus the 2 M-04 chassis's via EMS from Japan for a very good price.

The stuff was sent promptly and well packed, even though he was in the middle of moving house at the time [:)].

This kind of helpfulness is something I have experienced time and time again with other TC members, especially when sourcing hard to find parts. People like supergreg offering their own time to check things up with their local suppliers and send it through to me in the UK at postage cost, even though its not certain I will go ahead with the order, and many others over the years that have offered their help.

Granted I am not a big Tamiya collector and I don't do a lot of trades (most of my stuff I tend to buy new), but most of the more unusual stuff I have now I would never have been able to source without the contacts I have made thought TC and the help I have got here from other members.

With Kidderminster 2006 only a few weeks away it was a no brainer renewing my TC membership when it came through today........

  Chris,

its great to hear a nice tale of how well some trades go.  I think the good guys on here far out weigh the bad ones.  There are plenty of excellent members on here that have given me plenty of advice and help and even free parts on the odd occasion! (thanks again there Huff!!).

Members such as Twinset, Biggusditchus, djderk, Huff, Jo+Ro, Stax, Lemming, Mad Zero, Gecko-no-more, Amigamad, Jozza and Mr_Pushrod all rate very highly in my book!! Im sure there are loads more but I cant think of them at the mo! [:D]

And I know you are a good chap and very helpful because you have been a great help with info on the Spektrum and did not mind me bugging you in the slightest!! Top chap!!

I have also tried to help members out recently by giving away some parts to help them out. I like to help where I can but Im no Tamiya expert so I do what I can!!

Its stories like this that make me proud to be a member of Tc!

Thanks for the credit Chris [:D]! Unfortunately there's no response yet from the remaining 2 suppliers. I will keep you updated in the other thread...

I have only dealt with 2 TC members since 'joining the fold' early in February, making purchases from each - I would have to say it was extremely easy and painless so a big THANK YOU to Mr_Pushrod and Mad Andy for trading in the true spirit of TC !!

I would just like to say, if you are going to trade with Mr_P, don't do it for a bacon sarnie, he still owes me a weekends worth for a Maxx chassis [;)]

Otherwise, he's a top bloke

Ooer missus!!!

I just had to put a few names up myself, been adding them to my Showroom main page...

Richytanimal, Biggusditchus, Fastboy, NZL60, Netsmith, Hillman666, Wilton55, Evoman, Sunktothenutz, Spike, Redseven...

These are all people with whom I have traded, sold to, bought from (or a mixture)...  BIG thanks to all these people, plus more that I can't remember...

Afraid my laptop died some months ago and anyone I traded with before then is missing!!!

Cheers all

I think this sort of voluntary 'good people to trade with' thing is a good idea. One thing to make it work better would be to be able search peoples main pages aswell as the showrooms...

A friend of mine needed some parts for he's Manta Ray, and found exactly what he needed + some UJ's and more in TC trade room. I emailed the guy witch nick are Cinnamon. The parts had a good price to begin with and Cinnamon also said I did not had to pay for shipping since we lived in neighbor countries! Just a couple of days later I recived the package and al the parts looked mint, al packed in different plastic bags! My friend was very happy! If we have had a carracter system for trades at TC, I would have given Cinnamon the best carracter there was!

I actually have not had a bad trade yet on TC. I have traded with many people and some that come to mind are Mike T and LUKE. I Have done many more and Iam actually waiting for 2 cars from the same guy that I did 2 seperate trades with in France (Emmanual). I have ha dnothing but good luck and great TC members that I have traded with so far. If you take a little caution and be smart, all trades will go fine on here. I love TC and the trades I have gotten on here! [:P]
