Ah, yes, I see how it works. Sorry, last time I was building/running these things the receiver and servos were powered off the 4 x AA adapter.

Thanks!

don't worry, I remember that far back too

you can cut the dog dones in half then braize some copper tubing over them to lengthen them a little, or stop being a tight wad and buy the DF02 CVD's, from Stella won't be much.

Hi, has you got a part number for the CVD'S, don't fancy my doggies popping out in transit.

Cheers.

Tamiya 53790 they are longer than the DF03 kit dogbones and designed to be used with shorter diff outdrives on that car, but fit exactly on the DF03.  (Do not by after-market ones as they are shorter)

Has anyone actually raced one of these yet?

They look like they could work, although drive train might be too power consuming maybe?

Not raced mine, not that far into the game but, i had a muck about at a building site.  Man this sticks like **** to a blanket, can't fault.  Took some pics & made a short movie, just got to edit it & add some toons.  Wish i hadn't painted the wing though, took a tumble & paint chipped off (drat, drat & double drat).

Dogbones held out, trimmed the steering to roughly an inch, means for wider turning circle though.  Thats proberbl why thay did'nt pop out.

Aforementioned oneway now available on t'Bay. Needs the kit supplied random spare bevel gear.

It looks likes like some of these options were conceived and executed before the kit was finished. Just saying.

Sorry, bit of a noob question, but what exactly does a one way do? Wouldn't it affect braking?

I'm setting up my Darkie with a brushless Novak 4.5 motor and ESC. Anything I need to do in particular? I have the slipper clutch....would the dogbones stand up to the power? Cheers.

The dogbones rattle and move enough with a 19 spec motor. I'd upgrade to the DF02 CVDs.

When moving forward a one way allows the front wheels to rotate independant of the back wheels off power, on power all four wheels will be driven by the motor. Under braking, as the front wheels can still move only the back wheels will brake.

The best anology is the freewheel of a bike.

It makes the car react more 2wd like under power, giving more steering.

There is one winging it's way to me as we speak.

Anyone seen any new clear DI shell & wings for sale?

Can you point me in the direction, i need a new spare?

Thanks in advance.

Miss DI and I are very much in love.

The newly fitted hitec gem receiver doesn't have the range of my Acoms 201. Can't get to the far side of the leafy glade without her getting the jitters.

The new shockers are VERY smooth, but a little bit softer than the kit shocks. The bottoming out is worse on the table top jump. But I can give her more ride height, so that is fine.

I'm loving the rooster tails that come off the tyres and sweep up the back of the car and off the wing. Very cool.

The grease in the gearbox joints trick is working better. There is very little dirt ingression into the delicate cogs and gears.

After a couple of months of dirt and table top jumps and cartwheels and landing on her roof everything is still a-OK. The diffs are still supersmooth, the suspension isn't binding, everything that should be tight is tight, the tyres still have a lot of tread and the cars is still very fast.

I'd still strongly recommend this car.

Elliott.

P.S. the poor air circulation and heat dissipation hasn't affected the (V2) motor, the comm is still in good shape after 10 runs or so.

Anybody got a link to those CV driveshafts? Better be safe than sorry, although the way I have it set u they shouldn't pop out. Suspension is lowered, and the sponge pads are in, shafts nice and firm for now.

JR-RC @ ebay, 43350 Tobee Universal Shaft 8mm Tamiya DF03 Dark Impact

These are for the front only, rear are longer.  I have a few TOBEE hopups on my TT-01, no problems with them yet.

Hi - I need some specs of the dark impact so hope you can help me out.

I am looking at using the dark impact for a project chassis to mount my T3 pajero shell on (see showroom) and need to know the answers to the following questions that arent covered on the tamiya site.

What is the exact wheelbase of the dark impact also can this be changed by reversing the rear arms?

What is the ground clearance.

Does it come with full ball bearings and ball diffs?

How does it cope off road on rocky and rough terrain when not traveling fast as i want to also do some scale driving and slower speeds through tricky terrain areas.

Also Whats the gear ratio range? can i get 10 to 1 or higher?

and finally does it have supple enough suspension to work well on soft sandy terrain so it can race with the touaregs?

if you know answers to any of the above then please can you reply as i really do need to know these facts before i buy one for my project. cheers for your help

Did'nt see that ****** [:o] i've paid $26 dollars for mine & NO grease, get the cops i've been robbed, lol [;)

Spare DI body & wing on it's way, with some nice GREEN wheels.

I was looking at some HPI MT WHEELS & to accompany these some masseeve dirtbonz tires or similar.  These are usually fitted to stadium trucks.

Do you or, anyone know if they'll fit the DI?

Can you recommend a wider wheel /tyre set.

Thanks.

Hi, maybe these are of some help:

Wheelbase is 272mm. It looks like you can make it shorter by reversing the rear arms (haven't tried yet), but I'm not sure about the shock mounting position.

What is the ground clearance.

Depends on damper setup. You can adjust ride height by using shorter springs or increase by using clips. Mine sits at 30mm with installed battery.

Does it come with full ball bearings and ball diffs?

Yes!

How does it cope off road on rocky and rough terrain when not traveling fast as i want to also do some scale driving and slower speeds through tricky terrain areas.

This strongly depends on your damper setup. I doubt this will be the perfect chassis for a crawler. There are better alternatives like XC or modded TA02.

Also Whats the gear ratio range? can i get 10 to 1 or higher?

Yes, you can get up to 11.29 by using 23t pinion and 85t spur gear.

and finally does it have supple enough suspension to work well on soft sandy terrain so it can race with the touaregs?

It will outperform any Touareg/XC in terms of speed and stability, as it has more ground clearance, suspension travel and track width.

if you know answers to any of the above then please can you reply as i really do need to know these facts before i buy one for my project. cheers for your help

cheers

Superb - Sounds like it ticks all the boxes and the wheel base is very nearly there only 3/4mm out so just trim the arches as required on the prototype. model

many thanks Ryck

btw what setup do you run with your dampers? this is only a basher machine and probably wont have more than a sport tuned motor in max really as its about scale realism so how does the stock set up work?

Hi everithing

I want a DI, and after reading 450 post,I don't still know clearly a pair of things.

The DF-02 front CVD's are a direct fit? or may require another part?

they will fit the rear?

I'm planning of racing my DI on a regular basis, and need to know the usual broken parts ( aside of the obvious arms and turrets :-), to order the spares i will need with my DI.

Many Thanks

P.S: sorry for my bad english, I'm from Spain
