It might have the semi tranny in it with a transfer case of some sort? It probably will be more plastic than metal. But let's see what happens. Those next couple days will be very long.

I forecast an item no one here was expecting.  My belief is another adaptation of a current vehicle chassis, as that is what Tamiya seems to favour [;)].  Oh, and of course RTR for the kids !

Quit raining on my parade [:P] lol ...At least let me live in fantasy land thinking it will be a new three speed for the next couple of days .

Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised if a re-re brat is announced, not that that would be a big surprise, but aside from wheels and body its all been done already...(Frog).

The Brat re-re body was released over 18 months ago now....would like to see the kit - but that would be a surprise.[:o]

I think the cardboard body idea is great ! LOLOL

Sorry matey, but we're not going to allow serious stuff in this thread any more..... too much talk about 3-speeds and re-release SS's.... the lunatics have taken over the asylum.... er... thread.

Unless of course it's the real information from the event itself...

I guess I missed the boat on the Brat body set because they are still prohibitively expensive as far as I can se...if that is you can even find a set for sale anywhere.

My mind is thinking. Maybe a Metallic Chrome Bruiser? Maybe a Sand Scorcher and Rough Rider but the chassis parts are plastic / nylon?  hhhmmm?

Good old Tamiya and it's scale realism.... can't drive the 1:1 Trabant in the rain either!!! lol...

The only thing that I don't understand is that, it is two days away and we have no leaks of information. When I compare it to the full size vehicle world, the big three (as I am sure the rest of the world) always have trouble keeping things quite... how is Tamiya able to successfully keep things quite?

I guess you could look at from both sides, 1. How would such a small company keep things so hush hush when it is in essence, just a "toy". or 2. Is that precisely why they are succesful in doing so, the masses don't really care all that much about "toys", just those of us with no money we put each penny into our collecting.

I guess we shall hear all about it in two days and the Forum will be alive like we have not seen so in a long time.

I think Tamiya can keep its secrets better then a full car company as:

a) its a personal company and not big multinational or stock company

B) its Japanese and we know how important loyality and honour is there

c) the interest (also financial) is much smaller then in real cars, for "spy photographers" to earn their living from photos from snapshots during prototype testing at the Tamiya track

d) Tamiya doesn't test their cars in deserts or at the poles like 1:1 car manufactures, there is where most prototypes are "caught"

I also wouldn't be surprised as they have already re-released all the parts needed for it except the wheels and minor stuff like friction dampers, even the tires seem to be often available in Asia lately. Doubt though that this would be the big new surprise they talk about as its not new and also not really a surprise. I also bet on a modern plastic 3 speed, but guess its more my wishfull thinking... Okay, I just got word from an inside source:

It will be a 5-speed bruiser.... one with active hydraulic suspension, first 2 gears and long suspension travel for rock crawling and the top 3 gears and stiff lowered suspension for road racing.

It will come with a hard body for show/shelf time and a lexan one for driving/performance.

Since the brushless motor set-up (kit supplied) doesn't brake real good a 4 wheel hydraulic disc brake system is mounted (with line lock for burn-outs in 2 wheel drive mode)

The estimated build time (without painting) will be around 1 full week.

This new release will not also satisfy all Tamiya enthousiasts but also people that want to build a real car but don't have the funds or the space (which is very common for Japan)

I hope I didn't spoil the surprise, but I couldn't keep it to myself any longer.

Martin, you forgot the radio controlled 3 lockable diffs as well as the ABS, ESP and Hill Descending electronics and RC camera and GPS for better climbing/trialing [;)]

Personally I'd rather it was the Brat re-re rather than any modern 3 speed....unless of course the Bruiser/Mountaineer is re-re'd in its exact 1980's form.

If the re-release is a Brat, I think we should all know it by now. Remember when we all knew about the re-release of Frog before Tamiya's official announcement. If this is a surprise, it will be something 'special'. I hope!
