The thing I like the most about this new truck is that it is something that represents a truck you would actually see driving down the streetVery representative of some dual purpose road / off-road trucks that are driven by people in North America [Y].

It's a forum.  Everyones entitled to an opinion here, I suppose

even criticism of others opinions[:(]   I think both arguments for

and against are good ones.  I'm primarily a scale model

builder.  Scale realism is everything to me, otherwise it becomes

a basher [:D]  I'm a TamiyaClub member because Tamiya makes

more scale-appearing cars than anyone else.  If I wanted

performance I certainly wouldn't be here, I'd be a member of an

Associated, Traxxas or HPI dedicated site.  To me a model vehicle

should be as accurate as reasonable to it's 1:1, but that's just me.

I myself like this truck.  Tamiya put a lot of detail into

it.  Better than just about anything else made by anyone

else.  It turned out pretty much as I and others with vintage

three speeds predicted.  Link:  http://tamiyaclub.com/CS/forums/1/68125/ShowThread.aspx

A leaning towards more plastic and better performance.  Some of

the old timers here (only a reference to when you joined [:)]) realized

if another three speed came out it would be closer to a 1/14 tractor

chassis/transmission setup...I think they were right on.  It looks

by these pictures exactly what was done but with XC wheels.

I myself realize the unique significance of the vintage all-metal

chassis from a R/C perspective and also from an off-road enthusiast

point of view.  I firmly believe the extreme-scale (cast ZAMAC)

metal chassis has come...and gone.  It's not a re-re.  Maybe

it's best this way.  This new F350 is a fairly scale looking

truck.  It's not a Hi-Lux 4X4.  It's not a Bruiser.  It

looks good in it's own right.  It has it's own heritage and will

eventually have it's own glorious history.  I'd buy one.

Best,

Kee

Shodog has made a good point, todays plastics can sometimes be a lot more durable than yesterdays metals. ALL metals corrode even alu so plastic is a much better option IMHO.

God THANK !

Finally they listened to us and made a new 3speed. Now I can retire my old Bruiser runner who's gearbox left me again some days ago.

The truck is just as we supposed of it several times: TLT axles (they seems a little different however), Jugg body and leafs and (maybe) semi gearbox.

Thank Tamiya Thank !

I can go offroad with a 3spd again !!!

I like it even more now that the release is confirmed but does anybody think this is going to be a chassis that Tamiya will use for future releases as well?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I’ll buy one no matter what the price is (almost) and if the price is reasonable (less than $250US from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Hong Kong sellers) I buy two. Of course I probably end up ordering for some other people as well so I might have to go down to my post office and pick up six of these kits (I wonder how big that package will be?).

And also thank to Snake for sharing. I haven’t seen you post in this thread since the release were made official so hopefully the information didn’t come at a too high cost, like somebody loosing their job.

Provided this sells well, I would imagine that Tamiya would come out with other bodies for it.

(Inet...does my plug get me any discount at your store??!![:P] [:D]....didnt think so!)

LOL! I know you're one of our best TXT customers. Next time you order something from us, send me a note. I'll have them include a little something extra for you. :)

As far as this new model goes... I really look forward to seeing what some of the creative customizers out there do with it. This is going to be fun! I sense the chassis will be the first to go and we'll see quite a few of the hard bodies on Ebay since it seems quite a few people have issues with it! LOL!

I waited for this day for nearly 10 years. Perhaps THIS will be the page turn on to a new chapter for Tamiya?

It's absolutely beautiful, and the scale looks perfect. I live in Alaska and I have to say, it's exactly like the trucks we have here that are so common. Lifted F-350s are super popular among everyone here from 13-40 and are even preferred by some Chevy guys. Tamiya's model is a nearly exact representation and yes, the exhausts are too. The only differences are the color, rollbar, and lack of those euro taillights I hate so much. Also, it should be a long bed. The rims could be a different design but shouldn't be larger.

Oh , I admit I'm as giddy as a kid on christmas eve and will most definately get one . And not knocking the scale looks and extreamly great detail in the Ford body , but I'm a GM nut and the ford body does absolutely nothing for me no matter how detailed it is . So I guess they will just get more money from the GM guys , price of the kit plus a clod body set [;)]. Though other than the body I think this is the perfect next step for the 3 speed evolution . Not a re release , not a tribute to the days of old , but a new member of the 3 speed breed of trucks from Tamiya . I do hoap for a seald radio box , and a drive line that will hold up to good 14 or 12 turn motor ( thinking of own personal mud bogger project ) . But even if not , its still a great adition to the three speed line up in my eyes .

Jock, i wasn't around when the Mounty etc was released. I'm 15 ( Yes, more ammo for calling me )

That is my oppinion and i have the right to express my oppinions on a DISCUSSION FORUM.

And if you don't like it, PM Me and i'll show ya where to stick it.

Mike

ok little kid no comments are needed on a 3 speed forum your opinion is not needed....

like you said its, "DISCUSSION FORUM" i discussed it you told me where to stick it and that does not stick with the subject of the 3 speed.

My money is on a 540 silvercan. A 750 would be awesome but Mabuchi doesn't make 'em anymore (does Johnson?), and about the only place you can find one is a nitro starter box. A 550 would be a better choice but you know Tamiya.

I like it! It's good to see a new chassis, new ideas, new design. I'm glad it's not a Bruiser.

It's interesting how close this is to some of the entries in the "What Tamiya Should Make" competition.

I happen to like this particular bodyset, but I hope there will be other NEW and Different hard-bodied versions of this in the future (I'd like to see a Jeep) - not just re-issues of existing bodies.

As for those who don't like it - fair enough!  It would be so boring if we all agreed with each other all the time.

It's very cool looking. It will be unique in it's own way. I don't know how well those leafs will work with that big arch. I run a Bruiser, Mounty and Hilux and will continue to even when I get one of these. Nothing will ever be as realistic as the first 4 metal chassis 4x4's. Well all of us 3 speeders have a for sure project coming up soon. I'm ready. If the body is exactly the same as the Juggernaut I could paint my complete body set I have now and be ready.

JAnderson, you seem to be a Tamiya employee and for sure know more than all of us. Could you please specify about the metal chassis? What parts exactly are made of metal? The entire ladder frame?

I ve been waiting for more replies to write. Is someone happy with this release? (don t like body, don t like tires, don t like motor, don t like plastic parts).

I think it s a great progress in tamiya's minds. They seem to hear the opinion of tamiyaclub members. This fantastic release is the beginning of very cool models from tamiya, and very nice projects for us. Can you imagine a Hilux with those tires, or a shortened wheelbase with a wrangler body. Can you even imagine a totally new rubicon abs body, or a rereleased mountaineer body on it? Maybe even an old toyota landcruiser body? A modern crowler with this chassis 4x4x4? If someone need a bigfoot, it can be easy now to fit standard rims with hex.

My opinion is that this model is really what we were waiting for. We have all plenty of fresh ideas in mind to be able to make our own version of this amazing truck.

Well done this time Tamiya !!!!

This new 3speed looks like a parts bin special to me.Perfect.It has been built to a price. It will not affect prices of the original 3 speeds.GPM,3racing et al, will have a field day making alloy bits to hop it up as you can afford. It makes a great runner/basher and a challenge to make it look like a real truck for the scale enthusiast. It has something for every one.Thank you Tamiya, keep up the good work.

I think that the new Tamiya truck is great.  I will definitely buy one.  That being said I think that it is suspiciously similar to the modern 3 speed that was expertly created by TamiyaFever.  As I see it there are two main differences.  The first is that TamiyaFever took the time to engineer a transmission that operates in a similar way to the original 3 speeds transmissions (4WD only in first gear and 2WD in second and third).  The second is that he custom made a body by seemlessly combining a Juggernaut body with Blackfoot wheel covers in the rear.  This created a unique scale body that is used on no other truck and looks awesome.  One could argue that Tamiya looked at his creation, removed the transmission pieces that create the scale 4WD experience put a stock Juggernaut body on it and called it good.  I just think that if they had put a little more R & D into the vehicle they would have had a truly amazing truck (like the one TamiyaFever built).  Don't misinterpret my post as being negative.  It is not.  I just feel that credit should be given where credit is due and by comparing the two trucks it appears TamiyaFever went further in bringing to life a modern 3 speed than Tamiya did.
