I'm interested in buying a super clod, and i am saving money to get it, but i have a few questions bout it, that maybe members with clods could help me with:

-can it go through water and mud, and is it affected by deep water?

-is it completely sealed?

-what's the mech controller like, is it any good?

-how big is it, i only know the size of the tires.

-is it good off road, better than other models?

-should i buy one? it's £250 and i am only saving £5 a week, i wouuldn't want to buy a dud!

at the moment the super clod is a bit of a grey area i think, i dont know of any members with one!

but really the super clod is basicly the old one, with a tarted up shell, (which i like, but some people dont, matter of taste[8D])

the clod buster can go through water and mudd, deep water will cause it to float for a bit, then it will sink[:o)]

the gearboxes are sealed, but water and mud can spill into the chassis tub, affecting the electronics, as for the motors - they are standard 540 motors, which can take a beeting, some people even run these motors in water!

the mech controller, (msc) is a very old design, giving you 3 speeds forward and reverse, as long as they are kept clean, they wont let you down, the one in my clod is about 16 years old, same age as the truck, and still works fine. allthough an electronic controller will offer more refined performance.

the clod is big[8D] a little smaller than the txt-1, but dwarfs 1/10 buggies, and makes a blackfoot look tiny[}:)]

should you buy a super clod? well i would recommend you buy an old built clod just to test it out, to see if you like it, as if it turns out you think its crud you can quite easily get your money back on it. if you get a super clod, build it, run it, and then realise you dont like it then you will loose money.

overall i think the clod is a great truck, the gearboxes are very strong, and they do look good,

but thats just my view, there are people who think its out classed these days.

will an esc be damaged by water?

The Mtroniks ESCs are all waterproof. I'v seen one in action and I'm going to get one myself, my problem is that I don't find a distributor here in Belgium [V]

ShowRide, in the Netherlands they are distributed under the name Carson, maybe the same name is used in Belgium. If you still can't find it I might be able to get you one as I will be ordering another one maybe soon. [8D]

I have a Speed 15 and it blew once, I have said it before and I have said it again, but those guys at Carson just give you a new one if you turn in your old broken one, no hassle! [:0]

Other than that, they are good speedo's on thier own - nice and waterproof - unlike my Novak Hammer Pro that died from a single drop of water after 3 runs ... [8)]

Hey Showride... they go by Carson here... and you can order them in "den Albatros" [;)]... I think it was €68 for the NoLimit Reverse ESC

Hi,

no one who owns one? I still wanna know, if the axle tubes are molded to the gearcases, as they wrote in the description of their website. I can't imagine that, but was irritated when I read it.

Any clue out there?

I've looked on the Mtroniks website, and i really like what i see. i'm not sure which one would be better suited to the clod, the £30 has up to 20 turn and the £43 goes to 15. does the clod have more than 20 turn motors as standard? does anyone know where i could get upgrade motors?

i've seen a really nice motor on models in motion, the place i am getting my clod from. it's a 17 turn, but should i go the whole hog and get a 15T or a 13? the 13 needs a really expensive esc, so if anything i'll get the 15. by the way, is a motor with 13T or less faster than a 15+

ok, more turns means more torque, more torque means less speed.

the lower the number of turns, the faster the motor, but the lower the torque.

the clod is a heavy beast, i cant see low turn motors helping it at all, a monster truck needs torque more than anything, if its sheer speed you want, the clod isnt the best option - unless you want to make the clod from badword[8D][}:)]

remember the clod has 2 motors.

most mod clods have hi torque motors, and some people install smaller pinions to give the clod extra pulling power, and many mod clods have totally different chassis, to give them exta performance for rock crawling.
