Hi guys

ive got 2 motors here and tried them both in the same car the first one is a parma cyclone stock motor which acourding to the email i got from parma is a 27x1 and the other motor is a team orion pilot 15x2 thing is i tried both motors in the same car with the same pinion gear and the 27x1 seems to have a higher top speed and better acceleration than the 15x2 can anyone shed any light on this as i thought the 15turn motor should be faster ?

cheers

First problem is you are using the same pinion gear for both motors. A

15 turn has more power and revs a lot more, but it doesn't have the

same amount of torque as the stock motor. Using too big a pinion the 15

turn will not get into it's power band, the motor will just draw loads

more current and get hot faster. Generally the higher the number of

turns the more torque the motor has and the larger pinion it can run.

Fit a smaller pinion on the 15 turn motor. By fitting a pinion around

4-5 teeth less you will get better acceleration from the 15 turn and as

it will then be allowed to rev properly you will get a higher top speed.

As an aside I would also say the Orion Pilots are a fine example of

motors built down to a price. Every one I have seen has had brush

alignment problems. Making sure the brushes are aligned properly makes

a great deal of difference to the power output from the motor.

In my opinion, the Parma motor is very old and not worth too much. As for the pilot, I think they were a cheaper motor than the Team Orion Rush motors and they were **** also.  If you want to get a good motor, then get a P2k2 or a new C027 for stock wise but if you just want some power, get almost any 19 turn motor or as low as your esc can go. What car was this for?

the motor is only for my blitzer beetle runner and for now ive put an 8x3 in there and it pops wheelies but the team orian pilot motor was a freebie as where the parma motors (got 2 in pair of clod axels i bought) thinking maybe another 13x2 would suit it as its just a balistic basher !!
