Right...finally getting there. Can I just check one thing with you mor experienced chaps so i don't start another fire!?

Red wires = +ve

Black wires = -ve

Red wire from ESC goes to the +ve part of the (male) deans connector. Black wire from ESC goes to -ve...

Wiring up batteries - red wire goes to +ve part of (female) deans connector. Black to -ve.

Is this right?

Anything else you think I could do wrong?

Many many thanks for everyone who has helped me so far. Happy Bank Holidays to those of you in the UK

You have the connections correct. Fitting the female connector on the

battery prevents any chance of it being shorted out. Just don't forget

to slide the heatshrink on the wires before you solder the plugs on

-  saves having to take everything apart and redo it.
