Just wondering if there were any other Tamiya club members in southampton area that meet tohave a bash.

 Hi Jasey,

Myself, djderk and Bigwheels_inc are all in Bournemouth so are fairly close. Not quite southampton I know but a meet would not be out of the question!!

Feel free to drop me a line.

Cheers

Hi chaps, I'm located in Waterlooville myself, and any bit of open space seems to be well fenced off or unsuitable for use (Private, KEEP OUT!) How about the New Forest? plenty of open space there.

  Hi Mud!!

The forest sound like a good idea.

Also there is an old aerodrome near beaulieu too I think. Would be worth checking out as a possible meet venue?

What do you guys think? Maybe we could sort out a bash for sometime soon?

Cheers

I'm in Locks Heath near fareham . Definatley up for a meet. Not sure when I am doing exams at the mo (mature Student).

I will need some time to relax so a bit of bashing would be great.

Hillman I have dropped you an email re your XC have you received it?

Ive never understood why that comes under soton, when fareham is under portsmouth! and is closer to pompy then Soton if you ask me!

Chaps, well it looks like there's quite a bit of interest here. Have double diff locked XC (see showroom) a Twin Det and a TL-01RA, (plus some shelf queens that really need christening!)

Can I suggest that Hillman or Stu takes the helm as you both seem to have venues in mind.

Weekend of June 17th is Le Mans, so won't be around. Free after that (ish), see what gets organised!

Regards, Rich.

Deer leap as two big mounds to jump over, It also has some nice steep banks for hill climbing! Then there is the gullys.

Finally the open field with a small stream gravle, grass etc!!

It sometimes gets a bit busy being a carpark next to the forest but even when that is busy the whole forest is there!

Also in Marchwood which is about 2miles from there there is also a BMX track too!

R6STU - I am still up for a meet but have been quite busy with things outside of tc. Been busy at work and have recently split from my girlfriend and now have to move so its all kinda hectic!! If someone is willing to take the helm and arrange a date and location I will do my best to be there! I could do with a bit of r&r!! lol!

I'm up for it, and have additionally recruited a colleague into the fold, (although his first build is an XC).

I personally don't know any of the forest locations, although there must be lots for some trialling the XCs but finding large loose gravel areas for kicking up dust isn't easy.

If someone can give me some locations, I'll try and do a reccee and spread the word.

Whilst i no longer live down south i used to and recently returned with a pair of xc touaregs driven by my father and I. We went beach raiding at west witterings on selsey bill jsut south of chicester. Whilst this is tourist beach it has superb facilities including a massives grass car park and toilets/food/off-license in town [:D] etc as well as a massive beach.

We went on the saturday of the goodwood festival of speed and whilst it as busy we were able to run our touaregs all over the dunes around the headland with no interpution from anyone indeed several positive comments were received from the friendly locals (see showroom pics)

should u want faster running there are also open beach when the tide goes out down at the headland end where no tourists go. further the back of the car park is always left open with a huge area for sports like football/kites etc were we ran up and down no problems with no disturbances.

i would really recormend you look at it online and judge by ure pictures - we definately plan to return next time we are down south - just avoid sundays as they are packed.

Thanks for the suggestion of West Wittering. I have thoughts about meeting up there. I was rather confused when I saw your first set of pictures at the beach and realised you lived far away!

So how about it chaps, West Wittering or Deerleap? once there appears to be a majority with a location we can decide upon a date.

I used to live in fleet and with my parents we would visit the beach most weekends in the summer and still do when we can. Should it be at wittering's some time then i might be able to attend should we be down that area at that time, I would have to talk to dad tho it is possible - be gd to meet up with some TC members for a good bash on the beach.

Well, there's a few up this way who are up for it, plus you. I think the area we would head for is the very small tip just to the east of Hayling Island (across the water). Unfortunately you have to go over to Chichester first, then come back on yourself heading South-West.

Will check it out this weekend to see what sort of terrain it has and contact some others and try to agree a date. Am looking at perhaps Sunday 3rd Sept or perhaps a few can make it over the bank holiday.

Whatever turns out I will email details of times and a meeting place etc just prior to the event.
