Hi this may be a bit of a rant so apologies in advance. I have been lurking about on the site for several months after stumbling across it when I thought to my self there must be some good fan sites for Tamiya on the net (bit of an understatement looking back now) and then I found this site and well what can I say I was hooked.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

My interest in Tamiya was first kick started when I was fairly young with a copy of what must have been a Tamiya catalogue (I don’t know what year maybe someone can help). I remember distinctly looking through its pages dreaming of what all these fantastic kits (RC and static) would be like to build and drive. One of the most distinct memories I do have of the catalogue was a RC glider with a motor witch would work to ascend the plane and then the blades would fold back to allow you to glide back down. It had an excellent little cartoon drawing of it in action and to this day I have wanted one.

The first Tamiya kit I owned was not an RC and at the time I don’t think I even knew it was Tamiya, it was a wild willy Jr and I had hours of fun sending him zooming around my house and down the stairs. (I am sooo pleased they still seem to be available as I will be getting a couple of nib ones soon). During my younger days the RC car I drove all day and every where was a Nikko Turbo Panther witch had a turbo function and I adored (would love to replace it).

Then when I was about 15 I walked into a model shop on an off chance as it had just opened and saw a Peugeot 406st on the shelf so many memories came flooding back when I saw those stars and I knew I had to have it. After this several other cars came some where raced including a pair of fighter buggy’s a mad bull a mini cooper racing and a wild dagger. All of these where used till they wore out and sold or given away (dam :P ). Then I went through a period of a few years without having a RC car without really noticing until my partner bought me a nib Mini Cooper racing as a surprise.

I have built it up but it will be for display only. Over the last few months I have built several kits including an F201 (fantastic piece of engineering).

I have also just completed a kit witch I wanted to build for years witch is the fantastic King Hauler I have always dreamed of building one but with uk prices they always just seemed to pricey but when I searched eBay and saw how much they where from hongkong I couldn’t resist and so a king hauler full ball bearings multi function unit and a skysports radio were ordered. What a fantastic build 5 coats of paint and 4 coats of clear and an amazing chassis and electrical system have yielded the most impressive model I have ever built, and later in the summer I will add a tanker trailer and the full works for that to. In the next few days I hope to subscribe fully and have my friend who is a keen photographer photo my models so I can show you what I have been working on (all my kits are done as per box art), as I truly appreciate the work and dedication Tamiya put into making there scale kits and the gorgeous box art on the kit boxes (something I think I gained from reading Shunsaku Tamiya’s autobiography a few years ago which I highly recommend for Tamiya devotees).

Well anyway thanks for the help many of you have given me already on various things over the last few weeks and I hope my rant wasn’t to long :P. I look forward to finding collecting building and driving many Tamiya cars now and in the future and maybe even that elusive glider :(.

Thanks for the comments this truely is an excellent site i cant wait to get my models photographed to get them in my showroom. I feel i should mention that i love both sides to RC ie the scale realism side (the truck mfu is fantastic) and i also enjoy a good car for bashing wich is why i have got a dark impact (so glad tamiya have made a decent buggy again)

Again thanks for the comments and i look forwad to many more excellent kits from the masters.

Thanks for the compliment.  Mine is just one of many that have some fantastic stuff.  Ones I like to visit often are DJtheo's and InetRC's

In your list of cars you want to build, I would put the tanker trailer as one toward the top.  You definetly won't be dissapointed.

One you might consider is a wild willy 2 which is a very entertaining car.
