Makes a lot more sense than messing about with maxx turnbuckles n stuff

Out of interest, is the TLT discontinued or not????

Well, it's no TWINSET creation but it is pretty sweet !  I think Tamiya USA lists the TLT as available until they are all sold out -as far as everyone seems to think, they are out of production.  But Tamiya always seems to keep us on our toes second guessing ourselves so who knows [:^)].

Or on an even cooler note, how about these sweet G-Made axles !:

Isnt it just the ARTR package pictured thats discontinued?

Pitty that Juncac cant use a pede tranny.

good price, but using the pede tranny instead of the crappy tamiya one would be even better.

the pede tranny w/ tlt axles is virtually bullet proof, lock the diff

and get the pinion you want and you can gear for speed or crawling

without a worry very easily.

I need to put mine back together, it's been apart to long now.

I had a couple of TLTs sitting here NIB and I was thinking of building one with the Junfac conversion.

(No issues with the Twinset chassis, I just don't have a Stampede tranny lying around...)

Anyhow, since I've never actually built or run a TLT before, could anyone explain exactly what the known issues are with the tranny

I know in stock form that the TLT has a high center of G, weird cantilever suspension, and a even stranger battery config, but I assume the Junfac solves all of these issues.  Just not too sure about the center diff /tranny...

Any advice?

Thanks,

-Steve

The centre diff definitely needs locking, I used hot glue and and M4 bolt (re-tapped the hole thru the cups)

You need to spin the bolt head down, but it seemed pretty locked afterwards.

Not sure if there's any technical issues with the tranny, Biggus used his for ages, both as a basher and a crawler.

The COG is a little higher I guess, but some wheel weights and battery relocation would probly sort it.

I don't have a Stampede tranny lying around either, Tower are out of 1/2 the bits [:'(]

Thanks Andy

I assume you are saying that you used a M4 to bolt the two sides of the diff halves together?  Sounds difficult.. or am I mistaken?

The thing I liked about the Junfac conversion is it's nearly bolt-together completeness for a crawler.  I do want to build a crawler, but I don't really want to spend half the summer doing so!  (I've already got plenty of projects as it is!!!)

Has anyone done one of these Junfacs yet?  I'd love to know what the build time/effort is like.

Andy, im waiting on Tammies to get their pede trannies in stock. Want me to give you the wink when they arrive?

Actually, mighta been M3 - I got one here, I'll take pics later [:D]

As for building one, it looks a similar idea to the RCCA one a while back, but with extra holes for shocks, and all the ball ends and track rods supplied.

Not sure what the RCCA conversion would run at, but it's gotta be more than $99

If Junfac are anything like GMade (and I think they are) it'll just fall together when you open the box.

Dude, no winking, what did I tell you?

And no checking out my booty either [:D]

A simple phone call will do [H]

I think that Junfac and G-Made are the same company as they sell the same products.  It would appear as if the Junfac Tlt Crawler would take no longer than a standard Tamiya Tlt kit to build. Actually looks like it would be quicker. If I remember correctly, it didn't take more than a few hours to build my tlt Max Climber (unfortunately I sold it before I found that great new chassis).   I built a gmade dragoon and it was a breeze (only part not fun was threading on the links).  So, I'm sure you can't go wrong !

Thanks for all of the tips and info, fellas..

Looks like I might try the Junfac set for my TLT (Already have wheels and Moabs leftover from another project!)

Just one other question -- does anyone recommend using the stock TLT dampers with the conversion? I'm not sure if they're a full 100mm, but they appear that the might NOT be up for the job.  Has anyone tried these on a crawler?  I do have a set of TGM02 dampers NIB I thought about using, (gold, 4" length, threaded, and fluorine coated) but maybe that's just overkill.  Should I just stick with the narrow OEM dampers?

the stock shocks aren't good for  crawler because if you lay them down the springs are to weak, and they don't seem to have the pivotability of a decent aftermarket shock.

They do look nice on a 3 speed rig, scale size for that is close.

Traxxas pede shocks have loads of spring options, and are cheap. Maxx size or even savage if your going for huge travel

Thanks Bill-

I may just swap the TLT shocks with the gold TGM shocks on my King Blackfoot.  I'm pretty sure these are 4" without the spacers.

I think I've seen someone else here on TC use the TLT set on the KBF and looked like a fit.

On Twinset's recommendation - I just purchased this conversion - along

with a pair of bumpers, HD steering kit and some wheel

wideners(actually probably wont use the wideners - but hey - they are

there).

The postage was VERY reasonable and arrived in only a couple of days

after ordering. On first inspection the maching is very good and

quality is excellent.

I know pretty much ZERRO about crawlers - so I value Twinsets

input....................now all I need to do is build it and find a

lathe motor....

Is there a decent priced conversion for the Juggernaut II around at

all? I have a Juggernaut that I was very dissapointed with after I ran

it - so I just packed it away........Would love to make a Jugg crawler.

Cheers and thanks for the advice!

MONEY PIT

Well done chap, go build, stop playing on the interweb [:D]

If you're doing a crawler, lock up all the diffs before you start - you will end up doing it anyway, this way is just less hassle [;)]

As for Juggs, New Era do a LWB kit http://www.esphobby.com/juggerna.htm but most of the conversions I've seen have been a whole remake - Have a peruse around http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=11

LOL - when it comes to learning new stuff though - I am lazy.....[:P]

What is the best Juggy conversion to give good artic?

Woops - off topic and Hijacking !! Hardly good for a moderator!! Sorry![:$]

Cheers
