The term ‘runner’ is used about RC cars that you use/run. At least that is the only way I have seen it been used here on Tamiya Club.

Runner- a R/C that you use, run, play with

Shelf Queen- Not a runner, usually vintage sits on the shelf looking cool!

NIB- new in box, never built

there is a fine line between runner and basher too, as in a runner you  run it and take general car not to break anything much, where as basher its all out war on the model, and lets hope you got splenty of spares [:D]

A basher is what i build from my spares that ar'nt fit to put on ebay

you build a basher for mad jumps and fitting insane motors so you can smash them up

where as my runners are quite respectable cars which although may not look gleaming i take care of and use alot. cleaning them when need be and keeping them running well so there always good to go

Its a matter of personal definition, cars that I run I put as runners, but if I just drove it once or twice and not anymore I put it as restored or project.

I like the basher definition - sums up my King Blackfoot. [:)] It's hopped up and fast, and although not willfully destroyed, it does take a lot of damage and I do just enough to keep it mechanically running well.

Rest of my runners I try to keep as clean and near new looking as possible taking no big risks or jumps when I run them.

Basicly a basher seems to be the sort of car that if you break it then you just put on some more parts and get it running again never realy bothering to clean it unless it gets realy dirty & then only a wipe down with a damp cloth and if the car gets obliterated by a passing wall or tree etc at high speed you just strip the usable parts and throw the rest away

and a runner seems more a tidyish car that has all good parts on it usualy well maintained (may have the usual scratchs underneith it but mechanicly sound) that you try not to destroy

If it moves under it's own power, it's a runner to me.

If it moves because I'm pushing it around, well...then it's just an oversized, expensive Matchbox car.[:)]

for me, unless it suffers a mechanical failure or lacks electronics it is a runner. yup, even my JRX2 Pro SE or my soon to be here Streetwise rally car, and most deffinitely my tamiya TL-01 (needs front CVDs! danged dogbones keep popping out of the stub axle at full lock steering (aka my fav. kind of steering lol) and it broke my stock servo saver and ended up toasting my plastic geared servo's gears)

Good call eek! lousy matchbox cars..........grumble....

If you drive it more than a quick test around the lounge room it's a runner i think, although from what i'm hearing my poor stadium blitzer is a basher, i swear it's had enough replacement parts to be its own twin!
