I need the groups thoughts on a body that I want to make.

I want to take the front cab of the king blackfoot and then replace the bed with panel truck/utility truck. Any thoughts on how to do this? I was thinking of going with a metal box frame. With styrene overlay.

Is a panel truck like a small U-Haul? You could use some small steel angle, the kind with holes already in it even. Then just rivet the plastic panels onto it. I think the rivets would add realism/coolness anyway. If you had working doors, you could have the body mount holes on the inside.

Yeah it's like a tool truck. The front of the cab is a standard ford the back is divided into two areas with a small bed in the middle. I think the metal frame and plastic idea is a good call.

If weight is a concern, you could just epoxy the plastic panels together. Like 1/8" ABS stock or something. PVC or that black plastic pipe (can't think of the name) for wheel wells (if you wanted wheel wells). Sounds like a project. Looking forward to some pics of this.

Well it's a project for sure just don't know which way the project is heading.

Project idea number one will involve a king blackfoot cab and the rear setup as a utility truck. Like what you see on construction sites.

Project idea two will be based off of a 1/6 scale WWII jeep.

With regards to project one I can't find a single site that has scratch building tips. Project two I've got a giant website to draw from.

One question for your.

When you are referring to a panel truck, think of the Ford Excursion without the windows, right? If the King Blackfoot does not have the step-side bumper, you could use the bed and with some brass rod, mold the basic design around the length and height of the truck. After you get the brass rod in place, use stryene.

Yup thats the plan I shot some pics of the subject truck today and I think that I could almost do a brass box and stryene build up. Thanks for the help.
