Just bought off fleabay a rolling chassis bush devil, just needs a body and a shock.

Cost £20 (and postage) so will make a cheapish runabout when done.

So any idea of the best (cheapest) way to get a replacement shock? maybe 4 oil filled ones rather than a friction one (i think its a friction type anyhow)

Also what 'bodies' will fit, again not concerned with originality, but need something that wont break easily.

Also any tops/advice on using it, ie parts that break easy/etc

Ta.

if you are willing to upgrade to oil shocks these tamiya cva's work great compared to the stock friction shocks.......

as far as bodies go, it has been my experience that most "universal" 1/10 scale truck bodies will fit (like ones for a traxxas stampede), but the wheel arches don't line up very well due to the bush devil having a shorter wheel base. i always like to run a parma ford f-150 blackfoot body, since it lines up perfectly........

being that this is a lexan replica of a blackfoot hard body, this means you may want to run one of those or a super blackfoot body as well. the body mount holes will line up with no modifications. i also noticed an original Bush Devil body set is on eBay right now....i think that your best bet though, to keep costs down, is to just go with the Parma F-150...

(If you want to view the Super Blackfoot in my showroom it has both of these items i mentoned. as you may or may not know the SBF and BD are the same exact trucks just with different color schemes and shells.)

thanks.

The shocks are available on ebay for £12 (+ PnP) rather than £20, as you mentioned it i will probably buy 2 lots to save postage.

as for the body, have noticed mud4fun (?) has a land rover once, wouldnt mind that but lexan may withstand more abuse :D

For shocks anything around 4 inches will do, Tamiyas CVAs are the proper replacements though.

For bodies don't bother trying to find a Bush Devil shell, they aren't

pretty and they break easily across the middle of the chassis - a hard

body is more durable. Blackfoot and Monster Beetle shells can be made

to fit. Anything designed for smaller stadium and monster trucks will

fit and look right, anything made to fit touring cars will also fit so

there are plenty of options.

They are a lot more durable than most of Tamiyas similar chassied

trucks. One part to watch for is the front bumper support, I broke mine

and had to wait 18 months before one came up on ebay. The Frog one will

fit as a replacement so it's not as much of a disaster if you break one

today.

A search for Bush Devil in the showrooms will give you a few ideas.

cheers. Bought a set of the shocks from ebay earlier, £25 delivered (as mentioned above) so within my budget so far and at least they should fit!!

its just the bodyshell now i am looking for, most places are sold out of blackfoot and the F-150 shells!

I only want the car as a runsbout anyhow so if i could find one that fits for now thats dirt cheap i would be happy as i intend for it to be rolling around the floor after mad jumps/etc :D

bought a parma F-150 shell and some mica blue paint.

got it all sprayed up earlier and looks great, though messed up on the spraying and when i backed the mica with black a few sections bled badly.

However as its a runner i am not too concerned!

pics should be up soon i my showroom.

Did you use Tamiya Mica blue? If yes, its not for lexan but for hard bodies and will split/crack easily on a lexan body.

******! so it is (for plastics on the side)

Ah well, too late now!

didnt think to check when buying as didnt know there was any different types, all in the same type of can by each other!!

I have backed it with black polycarbonate spray, wonder if that will do anything!
