Some are so hostile! I realy wish we could have a feedback system. I know this has been much debated and are very difficult. But there is a guy here at TC witch I have issues with. Witch I posted about in the forums. 200 people saw it, he changed his user name an keeps on trading...

It is the best RC club/info place on the net, and there is not easy to make it better, but people who makes it whorse should have been ******* punished!

I responded back to him:

This item was listed on TC a few days ago, it was edited yesterday for the l

ast time  So I didn't sell it on Ebay and on TC at the same time, In future watch your language as some people might be offended by your vocabulary

Franz

I got this response back

f..... off then...is that better?????

Great, why are people like that on the club ??

Keyboard warriors....the scourge of the Internet. It would be interesting to see if they were so mouthy sitting face to face.

I doubt he would have the guts to reply here. Some people are horrible but the majority are absolutely sound. He goes on your list of people not to deal with in the future. His loss. Please feel free to send me his user name so he can go on my list too,i don`t want to have anything to do with a person like that.

Hmmm... If the bellend in question had his name put here as an anagram would that be allowed? Could i be enlightened as to the "Keyboard warrior's" name by PM please. I am hoping its not a regular as that would be dissapointing, i bet its someone who is perhaps a member but is one of those individuals who has nothing in their showroom?

Dosen't look like he's going to reply here, I just got another response

He now making out that this is basically my fault as I understand it:

He stated in his response:

why don`t you stop bugging me then you fool...?

I responded:

I never bugged you, I stated the fact that the item was listed for a few

days on TC , the price was last reduced yesterday, no interest, therefore it went

on Ebay with a buy it now which was used within 2 hours of listing it.

That's all , I was just polite to you all you did was to go ballistic for no

reason whatsoever,

Franz

His response:

look....this is bugging...GO AWAY............................

there are always people with no respect and offensive language.

as far as i know this board is actually free of individuals like that.

there are certain rules here which should be understood by everyone capable of reading..

hope this problem gets covered by the admin.

p.s. hope it didnt upset you too much. its probably a very young guy that needs to grow up.

Best to ignore this kind of thing, annoying as it is. I suspect replying and putting this thread up is just pandering to the saddo's rather limp ego.

Judging by his responses I suspect his mummy will be feeding him his rusks and changing his nappy pretty soon before putting putting him to bed before 6pm anyway [;)].

I know the temptation is to let off steam with things like this and similar showroom comments, but honestly the best thing you can do is PM the mods with the details and then just delete the entry / email / PM and move on. Let them deal with any further issues.

Its just another form of trolling imho....

Thats okay, I just got en email the other day from an *******! in Japan that responded to my Traderoom ad for my 037 Lancia. He said no one would buy that piece of s*&t and called me a F*&k-Face!

This is why I think they should limit being able to interact with others to Club Members only and only allow visitors to be able to look that's it! Sorry, but if you are serious enough, you can afford $15 and that is $30 USD for me.

In case some people have overseen it, there is an option in your traderoom items that they are only shown to verified club subscribers.

Sorry to hear you have had problems as the club grows then I am afraid that unpoliteness etc is something else that will grow in proportion to it. I am really not sure what the answer is. As moderators we simply do not have the time or resources to get involved everytime someone uses swearing etc in their posts - in that respect we are no different to your ISP or any other online application provider - most of which have full time development/management teams. When it happens to me at the first sign of it I just stop responding to emails from that person and add them to my black list. I've learnt over time its not worth engaging in debate with them in any way shape or form.

I completely understand the desire to want to 'warn' others of the user - but as yet I have still not found a satisfactory way of doing this. Main problems being - we are listings service, once you list a trade then thats the last interaction we have, unlike ebay where people enter a contract on the click of a button or the placing of a bid. 99% of the stuff that goes through our trade area is not that straight forward - we have swaps, make me an offers, etc etc where the deal is done via email away from the club. This means linking feedback to a particular transaction is not that easy. If you do it via mutal consent then its almost a foregone conclusion that it will end up being a good trade, so virtually means that it will only be used for positive feedback.

A lot of these sort of problems are actually not even as a result of trades, just members falling out via email. I get as many emails from people complaining about others where when I see both sides of the emails, both sides are as bad as each other, as I do emails which I would consider the one user 'to be in the right'

And then you'd have the people that would just abuse it to cause trouble.

Ebay have the biggest online feedback system I know of, developed by a big team, based on years of experience or running large communities and based around clear transactions - but still you will find as many threads here slating their system as you'll find threads here complaining we don't have one. And with our system its going to be even harder because we are not a simple transaction based site.

I'm truely interested a system of feedback, we've been trying to think of one since day 2 of the club and I'll happily take the time to develope it, but only if its a good one, that can satisfy all these issues. Doing it wrong will waste time and cause more problems than it solves.

We have problems even debating it, as soon as I don't agree with a suggestion that someone posts, they tend to take all sorts offence at it - but this just illustrates the problem. This is very simple to think about it when you are talking about yourself and what you would do, as a rational person, and your personal experiences, buts its a different thing completely to come up with a system that satisfies a community of 14,000+, where you are trying to come up with rules for people that are not like you, you know nothing about, you have no idea of who is telling the truth etc etc

I am up for suggestions?

I also don't see a feedback system easy to implement, but if a registered member sends an abusive email which is reported to the mods, he could get a warning point (and after 2 or 3 he is out), right?

Bad luck Franz - I don't think I would even have bothered responding to his first email - to me it just shows how stupid he is - why insult somebody who might have something you might need in the future?

hi franz

I quite agree with you theres getting to much of this on tc of late. Got nothing to do with the size of the club just the type of people using it..If you could pm the name to me that would be great just better to avoid dealing with these people then they might get the hint and go away.

Of course its individuals that cause the problem, but it has everything to do with the size of the club. If we shut the doors now and allowed no new members would the problem get worse? Would 'good' members 'suddenly' become bad? No, obviously. If we let in another 1000 members over the next few months is there a chance that some of them will be rude and impolite - yes, a very good chance.

Its also proportional to the amount of trades you do, you do one trade a month and you'll probably go years without a problem (the site current is approaching 1000 trades a month, the vast majority of which go on with no issue at all) if you enter 100 deals a month than the chances you have a problem will grow.

I'm not saying this is not a problem, it obviously is and its something I really want to do something about but its obvious by the fact that despite people being happy to complain about the issue so far no-one has yet come up with a workable solution, thats its not an easy problem to fix.

Most 'solutions' that have ever been suggested seem to come down to the fact that they expect people to use them correctly and reasonably - and thats the catch22 - we are talking about people that have proven themselves not to be reasonable (or even sane in some cases) and in a lot of cases they will have access to this same system.

If people want to post that they have had a problem and people can email them for details, then thats fine. It has a lot of merits, in that you would presumably only email those people you've made a decision to 'trust' their word and they  can send you all the details you want. It really is little difference to them actually posting a name on the forum apart from it doesn't put the club in a difficult situation, the only real difference is that if you are interested then you have to email them. The club does an awful lot to protect its members (and we'd do more if people can come up with viable suggestions) all we ask is that members at some point do a little themselves, at this moment in time its emailing those people that have had bad experiences.

With regards to swearing or rudeness, a lot of this is a society thing, you are asking us to control how people interact in the real world, where parents, schools, offices, friends have presumably all failed with someone. Many work places or clubs will have clear rules about swearing (as our forum does) and act on anything that breaks those rules. But ask them to act on something where someone has been swearing in their own home away from that club and they will be in exactly the same situation as us - ie they can officially do nothing. Would they allow you to put up a poster with the persons name on saying that out of the office this is not a nice person? No.

What is the downside in emailing friends about people you have problems with and offering to give that info to anyone that asks for it, other than those people that can't be bothered to ask don't find out? If they don't read the forum, the wouldn't see a 'name and shame' post anyway.

well i see the point that its a social comdition of the age as we see it everyday on the street..That said if you have a member such as franz who is a well respected member and trades an awful lot and is always polite.. If he sent admin an email that was sent to him im sure the admin could trust him enough to send a standard warning to the member in question asking them to refrain from abuse..

this is just my opinion i dont expect you to agree
