Okay, just seen a few videos, and i want one now... Is the Touareg just as capable as the pajero? Is it the ame chassis etc, coz i cant find the pajero ANYWHERE.

The Toe-rag is exactly the same chassis, except the rear plastic links are mounted in a different position to give a slightly longer wheelbase, and I think the driveshafts are slightly longer to cope with the longer WB. This doesn't really have much of a disadvantage, except in really soft mud/sand I don't think it would be quite as good as its slightly shorter wheelbased brothers, but the difference should be minimal.

Bratman, yep, it's all your fault. Ever since you let me have a go on yours down at Kent Bash, I've been hooked. I've got you to blame for all my spending on it too, so if you could send me about £200 odd to my paypal, I'd me more than grateful! [:D]

Actually the wheelbase is changed by moving the links rearward rather than extending them. The propshaft is the only part that needs changing when moving from SWB to LWB. As for advantages/disadvantages, the SWB will have a better breakover angle but the LWB will be less likely to topple backwards when climbing. It's swings and roundabouts really, one isn't massively better than the other.

:-) I have 4 XC'S!! I have 2 VW regs and 2 pajeros 1 stock body and the other with a blackfoot body on it..

They work about the same i trail run mine in the woods and the mountain by me is very rocky and ruff!!

I would say for trail running a slightly moded stock suspension set up works better than a full blown link rear from my testings with the full link rear you can't climb as steep grad or drive on a hill on an angel with the full blown linked XC they flip to easy..

I have a mod i do with the stock rear that works wonders and only costs about $2.00 to do!!

I suggest moding the front also so you get a little more travel with the stock shocks by grinding some plastic off the front A Arm where it hits so the shock can drop lower also unscrew the front shock ends 2 or 3 turns so you get some more travel.

this is done on all mine on the fronts but 2 of my XC's have stock rears with my mod i talked about and 2 have full blown linked rears ...And i like the stock set up in the rear with my mod better for trail rock running it just works better.

Look through here you will find lots of XC stuff But most all my good videos got erased off rcpics.net when they upgraded there surver!!! I got some good vids just no where to post em!

Having just negotiated a 150 metre 40 degree incline, it was quite obvious that something had to be done about the tyres. Not finding anything in the shops which didn't need raising or cutting the body, I decided this was a good idea.

Those wishing to try the same may be prompted by the fact that it only took an hour to do, but the use of a pair of small curved art paper scissors was used and the rubber stuck using high viscosity super-glue.

Really nice cars kokopelli. I also especially like the Landy at the top. Do you think you could post a couple more pics of the rear suspension/spring set-up, if it's not too much hassle? Thanks!

Yeah. I love the Land Rover too. Its made up my mind to do a Touareg with a Defender body from Kamtec. But I would love to know where you got that Landy body from ?

I've seen this on Ebay. It seems too good to be true. Has anyone bought anything from this seller, and are they reputable or should I hold on to my money.

Nice land rover perhaps dad will finish his some time :@

We've had to modify the steering by using sand paper to make teh fit less tight where the shaft goes through the chassis as it ground to a halt with sand and dirt so we had no steering - happened to me on the beach lol - Still gt it goin again and some pics of our cars running pretty standard setups but still all we could want - Also on the low grip surfaces of sand and dusty hard mud u can be aggressive with the inputs and they wont rool over so u can slide about really well and word teh throtttle which is very rewarding and scale like.

Bunny,i have bought from both sellers and they are ok.First link is bodyset only and second is plus postage from Japan.

Prices are about right.

Thanks Twisty. I was a bit worried because the full kit was on there last week and no-one bid for it. If it comes my way it won't be NIB for long.

petrolhead : this is simple, just find some 1/8 springs and fix them like this (sorry, don't have much pics of the mod, but this is currently use in germany, see the german truck forum) :

mr.pushrod : my english is very poor, and I have not the requested vocabulary to explain, I will try to take a few pics to show you ...

bunny555, the landy is a chinese toy found on ebay :

for JRRC, no problem, very good seller, serious and honnest, probably not the cheapest seller (pajero MTW was sold by him about 330$ a few months ago) and postage is very expensive, I think it will be possible to find a MTW for less than half of this price, and if you are looking for a runner MTW, you probably try to find a build one, no need of an expensive NIB one.... but this is my opinion

Thanks, Kokopelli,

Did you have to modify the Land Rover body much to make

it fit the chassis ? I keep coming back to the pictures and still think it looks

great and would like to do one myself. I've got my Touareg now and whilst the

body shape is growing on me I still like the idea of the Land Rover.

Are there any shocks on your rear suspension mod

as I cannot see any in the photo.

Thanks

Paul
