Hi, I'm new!

I've just got back into R/C after a 20 year break. I've bought a vintage Cheetah to restore and a Lunchbox to run.

The site looks great, I think I'll enjoy it here :)

well welcome... this has been on my screen for 15mins but been watching the match 1 - 0  to England

anyways could you tell me what the lunchbox is like off-road as I was thinking about getting one and someone said that it was not very good as the design is 20yrs old  so just wanted a first hand opinion

Once I get it going I'll post results. The Lunchbox is supposed to be unstable, but I don't see why it would be worse than a Monster Beetle, which I used to have.

Welcome to the Club !  You will find all sorts of great information and a large number of great fellas to answer your questions [:D].  Be sure to browse the Showrooms/Tamiya Models Section to get ideas for your Cheetah & Lunchbox.  Although mine isn't built, I know that Lunchbox is a wheelie machine and great fun to drive !

Welcome to wallet badword, matey!

Looking forward to seeing your showroom.

I don't know if it'd be cheaper to restore the Cheetah or just buy a rere XR311 and bung the Cheetah body on it ;-)

Naaah :-)

I'm enjoying the showrooms but my wallet is whimpering in the corner!

Welcome to the club[D]

I have a re-re lb and it's great fun. It flips backward very easly if you drive it slow and try to climb a steep hill, but otherwise it's a very amusing thing to drive. I like to see how far I can do a wheelie. My record to now are about 15 meters. I had my first lunchbox in the early 90's, and still have that.

Cheers!

I always wanted one as a spotty 15 year old. I'm going to fit a wireless camera inside the shell for roving shots too :-)

Welcome to the club [:)]

I've just got back into RC too, got myself a Pumpkin half-way through

completion at the moment, looking forward to sticking a naff shell on

it and just having some fun.

In terms of pure off-road ability I think there are far better models

out there, but I chose the pumpkin for pure fun [:D]  (and also

'cos I'm using the shell for another project)

I might make the Cheetah a shelf queen, but the Lunchbox is for fun :)

I remember saving for months for my Monster Beetle and sold all my mint Star Wars toys to buy a Hornet! Thankfully my job means I can afford toys more easily these days.

I'm in Gloucestershire :)
