Since the other TC Australia thread is organising a Melbourne TC meet, I thought I wouldn't hijack that thread and would start a new one.

Getting well jealous of all the cool TC meets in the UK... Soooo... Any Sydneysiders interested in a Tamiyaclub race day? There's a good off-road track local to me I can look into using for a meet if enough people are interested. Would love to do a 'class' race thing like they do in the UK... Vintage 4WD, vintage 2WD, SRB, Willies, 959 etc.

Melbournites willing to make the trip are welcome too, of course!

Well mate, you tried...

Unfortunately, as the Aussie Melbourne bash thread shows, us Aussies seem to be pretty lazy when it comes to getting bashes together... haven't had a post on that thread since you posted this one up either...

Slackers!!!!

Here's another reply to make you feel better! I guess there just isn't enough members here in Australia! I can't do any racing, I have 2 tamiyas, but no radios or esc's!!

Yeah It is a shame Bodis. Would be fun to have a vintage get together. Shame this post is so old. I haven't used RCs in many years, so went back to the childhood fixing up a Hotshot and Fox, but think I'll have to take them somewhere for a drive and see how they keep up with the newer ones  ;)

Hey, this post isn't old! With your participation, it can live again!

Seriously though... I have a Fox and Super Shot runner, so we'd have some competition there.

Last time I took these down to the local track there was a kid practicing there with an Associated B4 (not sure what motor he had in it, might have been just a silvercan). The Fox's handling was a bit tail happy on the packed clay with fine loose dirt and a bit hard to control so hadn't a hope of keeping up with the B4, but the Super Shot with its new spike tires handled very well. Has its original Technituned, and since the kid was making the odd mistake I was able to keep up with the B4. I even got past him at one point!

Was worth it just to hear other people at the track saying things like "Hey, look at that! A Fox!"

Maybe there was a fox. Sure beats chasing the dog. (Which reminds me of

my car getting bitten by someones dog of the leash, puntured the

shell). Watch out for dingos too. Better hide those babies.

C'mon people. I want to hear some good yarns of an Aussie TC meet.

I haven't had either of mine down the track yet (apart from the Emaxx ;), so hoping that we get some sunny weather this week so I can take the fox for a run. Hotshot will still be in pieces for a little while yet. Got to remember how to drive these things, haven't raced around a track since I had my original Fox when it was NEW!!

A get together in the not too distant future sounds like a great idea (you can only learn so much from forums)

I'm a newcastle boy but i'd travel down![H] I'd be happy to car pool if there are other interested newcastle people? (or if this would help generate interest in other newcastle people) I totally agree, well jealous of our UK brothers and sisters.

I'd have cars to contribute to a Wild willy 2 race, lunch box comp, got a runner hornet, runner desert gator (if theres any interest in modern 2wd) and if i can get a set of short cva's (and my finger out![:$]) i could finish my runner blackfoot maybe get a space frame monster truck race happening? Don't have a runner 4wd buggy at this stage though.

I'll watch this thread and hope for more interest.

Gee, we might have a few people keen ;)

I have a little bit to go on mine to get them running, the Fox was going great guns and quite speedy in comparo to a stock DF02, but i think the 19t motor has taken its toll on the gears and the hotshot has some setup issues i'm going to work through soon hopefully.

will keep watching here though to see if anyone suggests a time and place. ( a shiftworker myself so weekends off are not so regular)

i have raced at a off road meet in sydney at the beginning of the year that was for vintage tamiya and it was a blast, cleaned up with a top force evo and the lap times were up there with the current crop of cars so count me in for sure

Ok, it's time we did something about this you guys - I'm going to be overseas in October, but I'll be back in November. Anyone for a TC Sydney Australia Summer Drive? Say, Sunday November 12?
