LOL not sure second life could take this many polies.

Anyway nothing to get excited about yet as this update is whats known as a 'Spoof Render' theres still lots of work to do but this angle is the only one the car looks almost complete from. Right side of body is still just a mirror of left side and does'nt really exist so as its a 3d mirror image all decals on the othert side are in reverse and back to front. Its a fantastic function though as whatever I do on one side appears on the other so I only build 1/2 the body, 1 door, 1 front wing ect [H].

This is just a decal test really but its thrown up other problems. Left wiper does'nt touch screen, a kink in the bonnet, wheel nuts & screws look naff, I forgot to smooth out roll bar AGAIN! and I've still got Dees' number plate on it. So expect one of these in your inbox soon Dee [:)].

That looks wicked man!

Can't wait, it's so....perfect.

Btw, I sold the virtual body on ebay...the guy had some original virtual decals left...lucky guy...

Can you get me some more virtual mirrors and whipers?

They're selling like hot cakes as this is also missing on most of the virtual SSs...[:S]

Dee, I'm still waiting for that set of virtual ballraces you sold me [8o|]

Fortunately, I paid with virtual cash, so I'm not too bothered.

LOL![:D]

Something to think about: virtual cash...isn't that real?

So you did pay me!

THX![;)]

I have virtually no idea as to what is going on here or what your talking about! [:P]

However I do know that this 'spoof render' you have created is awesome, if you squint a tiny bit or I don't know maybe just get slightly drunk it looks amazingly realistic. [8-|]

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing.

LOL thanks all [:D]

If you hear of anybody with virtual ariel,

rear & front body clip, rear wheel shafts, exhaust, resistor &

cage, all radio box rubber bits + rod stopper and all radio gear

connectors & 4 AA batteries with holder let me know, I still need

those [;)]

I can help you out with a virtual aerial.

Be gentle, it's my first try with this sort of thing:

Of course, I'll understand if you want to make your own [:D

Looks like you an old pro at this virtual thing [:o] I think you could go far in the proffession!!

Great news, I've just been offered my first proper 3d comission

because of this model [:D]. Not much to tell as meetings have not yet

taken place but they want me model an Tomb [^o)].

Anyway not much

done on SS lately, but did this. It took 4 months to build just the

outer skin of an SS, the RR has taken 4 hours inside and out [:o].

Still some tweaks needed though as I've no front or rear view blue

prints.

Cheers chaps [:D]

RR body is ready for decals now but not done any renders lately.

Will

I finish it? Hmmmmm sure I will but lets see how this one goes [;)]

seems a shame to break up a family, the RR was all to easy and over too

quick.

Jumblies! How did I miss this thread??? That Scorcher is nothing short of amazing. The RR, Lambo and Ranger look excellent too, perhaps we will see a Blackfoot variant in the future?

I do a little modeling in my spare time with old AutoCAD 2000, but it would take me several hours to make a radio receiver at your level of detail, let alone all these complex curves and whatnot.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted [:)]

Inspired by this thread (and impatient with the slow refurbishment

process of my real Hotshot) I started a CG model of my own. It's

nowhere near as detailed as Scorchio's models, but got me thinking, the shell is pretty accurate and with a little more work I could probably get it to a level where I could rapid prototype it and have some vac formed... but it won't be cheap - the cost will run into hundreds for sure - so really I want to know, is this something anyone would want to buy?

Obviously, NIB Hotshot bodysets go for a fair few bucks on ebay, but is that because people want the original Tamiya article, or are there people out there (like me) who'd buy a close approximation for their runner? Please let me know so I don't get carried away!

Here are some pics:

Hey Evirob, thats looking like a great start! Which package are you using? I don't know the car to well but its looking pretty acurate. Keep it up :) !

Hi Scorchio, thanks! I'm using Maya to model the car - when I can grab a spare moment. What about yourself? Which package are you using? I'm thinking it would probably be easier in one of the modern dedicated modellers like Modo, but Maya is what I know.

Scorchio, why don't you finish that Cheetah and start with new projects instead?

This is not criticism but I (and I'm pretty sure a LOT of the members here) would love to see another model (not particular the Cheetah) being finished!

That SS is such a wonderfull piece of creativity.

It may all seem very common to you but we, as total noobs about 3D-modelling, loooooove this stuff!!!

Please....I beg you....finish what you start...in the name of Tamiya...and lesser gods...

PLEASE![;)]

@ evirob, Maya is a seriously good package! Modo may be easier on the modeling side but when you come to texturing and mapping I think the power and flexibility of Maya is the way to go, stick with it I think its worth it. I'm using 3ds max 9 purley because like you its what I know. I'd love to use Maya but everythings got different names and I get lost in it easily.

@ Dee, LOL I will I will, but these are not new projects. 80% of the work thats gone into the SS is the chassis therefore I'm gonna milk that chassis to DEATH! so I see it all as the same project. I recon I've got about another month or two to finish the SRB project (time is so limited right now, I've just moved house) and then its onto the Cheetah, which I will re start from scrach as some of the geometry I've used to create it has pinned me in a bit of a corner. Also It will not be as detailed chassis wise (sorry) as I don't actually own one & working from ref pics takes forever. This scorcher body is the 5th rebuild over 5 years and the first one I've got right. BTW Dee, Love ya new sig!

Expect updates soon F150 almost finished.

Yeah, Maya is the business for all round work. I started on Lightwave, and when the studio I was working at bought Maya it took me ages to get my head round it. As you say, everything has different names.

Anyway, without wanting to wander too far off topic, as I said I was thinking of finishing the shell and trying to use the model to rapid prototype and then vacuum form some shells for my hotshot runner, so I might not even get as far as texture mapping, unless I find myself with a lot of free time!

Its about time for an update I think. Heres what your SRB looks like with nothing but electrics. The wires may look a bit angular but I have to keep them like that until I've finished editing them, then they can be smoothed and will look nice and round. F150 update to follow.

Hmmm Cant get insert image from tc photos going (?) so heres links to F150 for now
