Allanto 0 Posted July 8, 2006 The rc car parts list is a pretty open market on ebay (especially the uk) with only 1-2 pages of products mainly the same products just from different sellers, will the introduction of more parts and bigger RC hop up sellers on ebay introduce the hobby to more people or just give already rc car racers a chance for a bargain. Im sure starting up a rc car parts business on ebay will bring in some money , i just wish shop sellers would realise this , as 100 million people are now signed up to ebay. whats your verdict for the future of bargain hop up parts on ebay and the introduction to new hobby enthusiasts..? terry.sc 16 Posted July 8, 2006 Are you sure you are looking in the right place? Currently ebay.co.uk has 11253 parts listed on 226 pages http://toys.listings.ebay.co.uk/Cars_Car-P...ListingItemList and there are 543 pages of spares on ebay.com. There are many TC members who are trading R/C parts on ebay and all the big shops we use already in the UK and the far east have ebay shops as well, including TC sponsors Fusion Hobbies, Stellamodels, Modelsport and Time Tunnel Models. Most Tamiyaclub members already rely on ebay for parts, most restored cars here just would not be rebuilt if it wasn't for ebay. The real high point for selling spares on ebay was around 3 years ago, prices went through the roof as we all discovered ebay and its opportunities to get those wrecks running again. Now ebay has expanded there are a lot more traders around so there is more competition between them, so there is less profit on each sale.
Allanto 0 Posted July 8, 2006 EDIT POLITICALY INCORRECT WORDING Yes thats what i thought but this isnt quite the same for ebay.co.uk .com is always going to have what you need on it and in britain 70 percent of the population are not english and do not use ebay as mutch as uk ennglish and us americans <No racial abuse intended in any way or form i am just giving a ruff statistic for sake of this post.>
T.C~Tamiya 2 Posted July 8, 2006 Yes thats what i thought but this isnt quite the same for ebay.co.uk .com is always going to have what you need on it and in britain 70 percent of the population are not english and do not use ebay as mutch as uk ennglish and us americans I'm not sure how you're doing your search but on ebay.co.uk there are currently 11289 items listed in R/C car parts on 226 pages like terry.sc said. In Britain there are over 60 million people, 84 % of those people are English... but I fail to see what this has to do with buying R/C car parts on eBay ? What makes you think British people who aren't English "do not use ebay as much" ?
Allanto 0 Posted July 8, 2006 Because i have non british friends around leicester and birmingham and they do not use ebay half as mutch. also that statistic of 84% british isnt true many non english people over here are now british because they were born here this acounts for around 20% of all "non english". ok my first qoute was over the top but the figure is atleast 10-15% lower than what you said. And on surverys statisticts have shown that the white english community are more than 3x more likely to sell on ebay than english colored. however english colored are just as likely to buy. anway this forum is getting out of hand and off topic so in 4-5 hours from this post i will try and close it. Im just saying i struggle to find any parts for my Twin Detonator chassis (what chassis is it because it says TL01 but many people are disagreeing with this ?) T.C~Tamiya 2 Posted July 8, 2006 also that statistic of 84% british isnt true Population of UK = 60,441,457 Population of England = 50,791,094 50,791,094 as a percentage of 60,441,457 is 84% It looks like we are talking at cross purposes, I'm talking nationality and you're talking ethnicity. Back to your original post... I don't think eBay.co.uk is an open market for R/C parts, in fact it's a pretty well saturated market with loads of sellers and too few buyers. Allanto 0 Posted July 8, 2006 yes ok that would explain the different statistics, however what should i surch on ebay.co.uk for hop up parts for a twin detonator (they say TL01 chassis but many people say thisn is not true?)
theshopkeeper 39 Posted July 8, 2006 Why don't you just look in your manual for the part numbers, and order them from the Club Parts Shop (below) it's why it's there after all. Most people seem to forget that for things to be listed on eBay you have to pay a charge. With over 5000 current Tamiya Parts you are NEVER going to find them all on eBay, only on specialist sites.
