Hi Folks

ive noticed that im collecting more older cars than newer ones and yet when i joined TC i wanted all the nice new cars

i suppose we all go through this but do you find youve changed direction more than you ever thought you would or are you collecting all the cars you thought you would ?

I'm more focused in what I'm collecting now, and I'm going through the "thinning out the collection" stage. This is a very slow and painful process.

I still like to collect what I started with, but I'm much more careful about what I buy.

I'm changing from "collect everything that might be vintage and collectable" to "collect everything that might be a rally car" (mixed with the painful process that Bluefoot described) [:)]

I'm still in the same mode of collecting vintage only. I find that I only have interests in vintage buggies, no big interest in trucks or touring cars. I recently got back into Tamiya around Dec 2005, so it's probably only a matter of time till I change directions :)

About the same as most i think :)

First you collect all (everthing with even the smell or sound of Tamiya)

Then you find out you can't collect all, and the vintage (exeptions left) just did not do the trick for me,

So already a while back started to thin out the oldy's, and sell/swap em for the stuff i really want,

1/14 Rigs & 1/16 Tanks.

And the old or "other" cars i have, must be in (made into) new condition or NIB, no more projects. Well, that is the quideline anyway. I'll change it whenever i like it anyway lol

But, must say, the most joy i get is from the Rigs, and rebuild/restore/custom them, as a close following 2e place is the 1/16 tanks

The odd "feeling" i had, was when building the 56020 leopard, a tank i really wanted bad for a long time, what is after this? When this is done, i could not think of something else i reallllly wanted. Never had that before.

A day later i pulled a project 1/14 rig out of his box, sorted :) :) :)

When I got back into Tamiya a few months back, it was just off-road buggies and trucks that I wanted.  I got a good buggy, but immediately wanted a truck - so I got a Pumpkin.  I decided the Pumpkin body was too good to run, so I bought an NIB BMW M04L so use the Pumpkin shell on...  Then I saw some drifting videos, and the off-roaders have taken a back shelf while I get my drifters going.

Again, all I wanted was current NIB kits - didn't fancy scouring ebay for hours on end or having to rush for last-minute bargains just 'cos they might not be there next month...

Now I've got a bit of a thing for tarmac cars, and I'm tempted to buy a discontinued FF01-based car to see how fun front-wheel drive with a full-size touring car body can be.  Really fancy a Primera, since I used to own a 1:1 Primera hatch, which was probably the best £100 car I had until I wrote it off in January [:(]

..but I'm pretty sure I'll be back into buggies / trucks soon - fancy a good 2wd buggy, and a 2wd monster like a Blackfoot Extreme...

How can I call myself a collector? More like a hoarder........[:)]

I started with my NIB Focus 03, and since then have managed to get a wild ceptor (Love the drive of it) and a NIB Twin Detonator.

Thouse are the only NIB I have, but.... I also have five other chassis that I have managed to get of the -bay, That is the part I love buying a bargin, it arriving, me stripping it, cleaning every part. Ordering new parts to return it back to new. I love the lottle projects that I have on the go. Currently streaching a pumpkin to fit a TL01..... Call it strange but I have a picture in my head and am heading to create it. would love to make this one a drifter. Have a Kamtec Landrover going on to a cobra clod chassis, and currently refurbishing a Manta Ray. so all busy here.

Will post the projects in my Show room when complete.

Keep collecting.
