I also had speed woes with my blackfoot extreme, so i shoved a 17t motor and a 7 cell battery in it (!)

This gave more satisfying speeds, but has resulted in a lot of broken parts, including major chassis damage (expensive to repair [:'(]).

imho the blackfoot extreme was never meant to go fast, it has pitifully small suspension travel and doesn't crash very well at high speeds. That said, putting a brushless motor in one would be a great laugh and i'd love to see a video [:P]

Got to disagree about the "pitifully small suspension travel" as i fitted touring car shocks, modified to fit on my Mighty Bull (same chassis as BFX)

They increase not only the handling but the travel is much better also, and they look cool!

Take a look....

I have Super Stock TZ in my King Blackfoot. And it´s very fast with this machine. The perfect motor.  I know it´s not a Blackfoot Xtreme, but has nearly the same weight and tires. Maybe your speedo or batteries are not the best. I wouldn´t go for a brushless system in a Blackfoot Xtreme. Too much power for such a car. I would try the new Super Stock BZ for a Monster Truck like the Blackfoot.

Cheers
