I have an old Ta02 that I was going to try to get running this week, and I just started working on it this evening for the first time since I bought it.

It's in pretty decent shape overall, and has a few hop-ups including bearings and three universals.

Yup, just three.

Unfortunately the model is pretty close to being a complete runner, but it's missing one of the REAR axles, and diff cup![:'(] I don't know why this didn't strike me as a problem at the time that I bought this, but so it goes.

So my question:

I searched around a bit for some replacements but I can only find the cups and axles.  I'd like to just replace the missing uni with a similar one, but I assume those are pretty difficult to find as well. Not that I mind searching for rare parts, but this is just a runner so all that really need is durability.  The plastic ended jobs won't give me this, but I'll settle on them if they are the easiest solution.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is:

What is the easiest way to get my old TA02 on the track again?

for the back of my ta02 i used tl01 uni shafts which are the same length, and i think ta04 unis are the same length as well.  as for the diff outdrives, they are still readily available for both gear and ball diffs, though i cant remember the exact part numbers.

Thanks for that rich!

I've already sourced all of the parts that I need, but I need to find a suitable replacement for those suspect rear shafts.

I had a set of 'un-identified' unis here that were a close fit, but a little long on the wheel axle side.  (Does anyone know what these might belong to?[;)])

SO I assume that you are saying that both the TT01 and the TA04 have four like sized universals?

Or do they differ from front to back like the early TAs?

Even better, has anyone the correct dimensions for this?  Are TA03 unis an option?

UJ drive shafts with 39mm swing shafts are what you need, which includes the TA04 type.  AFAIK the TA03 UJ is OK for the front of a standard TA02 (Not the Wide variety).
