Hopefully this is just me thinking wrong, but there seems to be a few ( no names ) member's leaving the site, to do other things and 'selling up' hopefully this is not a trend!

What do you guy's think

Sorry Netsmith if this is in the wrong forum just to me looked like the right one.

I've got no problems with it being here, although i think it overlaps with 'general discussions' because its as much about leaving the hobby as it is leaving the club.

Having been around the scene now for years, in my opinion its just part of normal course of things, the annual churn. People are constantly leaving the hobby just as other people 'rediscover' it. Its been like it since day one. The have been some people with great collections and really active around the club that have just packed it all in, and they are missed, but no offence to them, there is nearly always someone else joins with equally impressive collections that are just as helpful and active.

Younger members discover girls/beer and real cars and sell up to finance them, in the middle you have members that get families and suddenly need more money coming in so sell up and towards the more mature end [;)] you have those that just think 'may be I should take up golf' or 'buy a caravan'

We also have fair amount that retire from it all, and then little by little, piece by piece find themselves right back in the thick of it with 6mths.

Its a healthy thing.

we do tend to see this every so often. people can lose interest as quick as they gained it. people also need the extra space, or they might have been put off by a trader. i don't think any of the big contributors are going anywhere.

well I am closing all my trading sites as I have had so many scammers

don't worry though I will still be here  (all of you  -  oh no he's staying ..ha ha )

I am just buying my stuff from Japan

People that leave because of scammers etc. I think are going to be disappointed in the long run, especially if they pursue any other hobby which involves any sort of trading via the internet.

We have it in this hobby and its looks bad, you can pick just about any hobby and its the same if not worse. The higher the value of the items in the hobby the more chance someone will try and scam you at some point. And any hobby which involves people 'trusting' other strangers via the internet is full of scammers particularly the bigger the hobby is.

The very same people that scam this hobby will be scamming every other hobby they think is worthwhile at the same time, most of them completely unrelated - basically anything they can make money at.

Well as a fairly 'active' member who is, on the face of it, selling-up - this is my situation...

I've been into r/c cars since 1978 (with a few years out to do the girls, bikes, cars, buy a house thing!) but I'm a terrible hoarder and always end up with far more cars than interest! I generally have 2 or 3 regular runners which I hang onto, I'd never sell the T4 or the Pumpkin for instance, but the rest just sit about until I want something else expensive (I'm currently after a quad bike) and turn them into eBay currency! Another factor in my current clearout is that I recently changed jobs and now work shifts which have so far prevented me from both attending the Kent Bash and running the Eastern Bash - obviously this has a bearing on the level at which I  can now enjoy this hobby ..if I'm only ever going to mess about off road once or twice a month with my family, I don't need 20 odd valuable cars sitting there.

So, once I've flogged all the cars in my showroom I'll put back the Pumpkin, T4, and add my new F201 Ferrari, XR311, and my wife's Blitzer Beetle and plod along a bit longer. I have thought of packing TC in altogether more than once but I've made a badword of a lot of good friends on here so I dare say Chris will be seeing a few more subs from me yet! ..I was hoping he'd spend this years fee on updating the comp button in the lower right of the homepage! I'm still pretty new, but I feel that I am here to stay [:)]. In a very short time I have already met several great TC members who have been more than helpful with Tamiya information, trades, or just general chat. I'd like to equally contribute back to the club, because without Tamiya Club and it's members, I would never have learned 1/10th (no pun intended to 1:10 scale) of what I know about Tamiya cars today.

Its a shame to see members come and go...But that very much apart of life...Like a book, Filled with many different chapters ! With many new commitments that arise though stages of life ( new house, Babies etc ) That change in way in which we spend our time, And more importantly our money.

Personally i have tryed to keep my collection relatively small. Main reason for that being that i couldnt afford to have all them as runners at the moment. ( And dont have the means at the moment to transport more than 2 or runners at one time ) And have a few in the collection that will never be such either.

I guess we all gain from members leaving and selling up. As they say every cloud has a silver lining, A member might be selling up his showroom.( For various reasons )  And they have a model that you have been after for some quite some time. And this can provide a perfect opportunity  to purchase a model that might be otherwise hard to get a hold of.

So as we wave goodbye to past members ( Not forgetting what they brought to the hobby and tc too ) We also welcome the newier members too....

Just me little 2 pence on members leaving

...and as old members leave, their cars and parts go into the trade rooms, and sell to other TC members.

So, members might come and go, but by and large the cars stay as part of the club [:)]

As with any hobby, people come and people go, but the club itself I'm

sure will keep going as long as it's still viable for everyday working

people to own and use RC cars.

Personaly im selling up and moving on due to major life style changes !

im thinking of moving and can't take 20 + cars with me in one go,

other reasons are im trying to get healthy and taking up alot of time doing that and im working alot more and will be for the forseable future

basicly my lifestyle is in a bit of a mess right now and selling up gives me one less thing to worry about......

im keeping my twin detonator and the sand scorcher im building and maybe my rough rider but thats about it !!!!!!

i will probobly be back when ive sorted my life out more but right now there's to much going on for me at the moment

but i will renew my tc subscription when it runs out

there my reasons ..............................

other members are doing it for other reasons but i think most of us will have times when we need to sell up and move on for a while at somepoint and hopefully alot of us will come back and TC will keep growing
