I am planning on racing a Dark Impact that, thus far, has been hopped

up with titanium turnbuckles, Pro-line Inside Job tires on the front,

Pro-line Evil Twin tires on the rear, steering ballraces, Associated

springs on the shocks, and an RPM bumper. I plan on racing the modified

class. How many turns and wind should I get in the motor, and what gear

combination should I use? Also, are there any other mods I would need

to get to be competitive? I am completely new to racing and I don't

want to embarrass myself.

As for the motor, i am not sure.. I only use mine for "fun-racing", not competition, and i run the Tamiya Superstock RR motor, on the standard gear ratio without any probs at all.

Another thing , which i have just acquired for mine, is the brandnew DF-03 slipper clutch set, which i think will save the drivetrain A LOT of stress, especially with the car being 4x4, so i would say: Go out and get one of those slipper sets before shoving in some kind of mad motor.  :D

Good luck racing the DI.

Cheers.

Were did yo get your slipper clutch set? Tower Hobbies dosn't stock it

yet, and even if TamiyaUSA does, they're usually overpriced.

I got mine from ebay. Cant remember if it was from jr-rc, but i think so..  A friend spotted it first, and took home 2 sets for our cars..

But do a search on the Bay for DF-03 / Dark Impact parts and check.  :D

Cheers

Yes, i have also seen those auctions you refer to, but make sure that the auction IS for the slipper clutch shown in the pics before bidding, just to be sure..  ¨

But yyes, that is what the set contains, and it works GREAT on my DF-03. Much more car control in turns, due to the fact that the wheels ae not spinning as much as before.. this is of course on loose surface. :D

Good luck.

Cheers
