I think they'll rather do a Nissan Skyline - as if we never seen it before! [:o]

Maybe this topic on re-releases is relevant to the discussion as well...? [:)]

I think you're both right. We will surely see both new Subaru Impreza's and Nissan Skyline's from Tamiya in 2003. The real Impreza gets a facelift (round headlights goodbye!), and pictures of the real car have already been shown on the Japanese Tamiya website. I

I've heard rumours about a Mazda RX-8 as a 1/24 scale plastic model, and as we all know, a model that appears in a Tamiya model range have good chances of appearing in another. I don't know about any other new plastic models from Tamiya which are likely to be released as RC-models.

A Porsche Cayenne or a VW Tarek (the new Paris-Dakar buggy) would be nice though. I can't imagine Tamiya will go for any rereleases, but I hope I'm wrong. Also, classic cars seem to be very unlikely.

Make mine a hard plastic one please. Sorry, I just have a hang-up about lexan.

I think Tamiya should move back to more scale "fun" cars. Like the old road car based buggies or FAV vehicle types. It does get a bit boring having the same chassis with just updated shells. I'd like to see a hard bodied old mini cooper buggie or monster truck. Beetles have always been a huge success for Tamiya and the Japs love the mini too. I'm surprised they havent done it before!

At this point I'd be happy even if they just brought back the chrome-plastic add-ons like the old-beetle and old mini coopers, instead of bumpers and everything in Lexan and decals.

But a new XC with real plastic body would be great.

Yes, car number 300 is an Audi TT-R from the German Touring Master series on the TA04SS with alternative liveries of blue (Red Bull) or yellow (Hasseröder Beer). Carson makes a Audi TT Coupe body suitable for the normal touring car wheelbase, but as usual for Carson, quality is rather poor.

It is likely that they could release more cars on the new F201 chassis to compliment the Ferrari F2001 and Tamiya F201 chassis kits. Which cars to model seems to come to the licence Tamiya have to pay the teams & if this is too high (as with the expected Toyota F-1) then a model will never appear. I would have thought a few more TL-01 cars or some more M-03 or M-04 cars to go with the new Mini Cooper might be closer to reality[?]

Tamiya dont seem to bothered that they're 2wd and 4wd buggies are not competative in serious racing. Have they got any plans to sort this out this year and release and all singing, all dancing buggie to whoop everyones ***, like we know they should?

It might be wishfull thinking but I wouldn't rule out completely the fact of no new F1's as they might just bring out new bodysets, then they only have to pay a percentage of that cost instead of the whole kit cost, they have done this before with the F103 chassis. to mention a couple the Benetton B195 and Ferrari 310 bodies , not available in full kit form. Not in the UK anyway.[:(]

Makes me sick that The F1 201 with 2 bodies is cheaper than the Ferrari F1 201 that only comes with 1 body, car companies are riping us off[}:)] personally i think they should have to pay Tamiya for honouring them in duplicating a quality scale model of their cars [:D]

Why don't Tamiya do a TVR? In fact why don't they do any modern British cars?

A new XC chassis car would be nice too but I can't see any of this happening!

The Pajero MetalTop Wide and the Jeep Wrangler. Plus the QD type Pajero Sport.

I think people like this chassis because it looks quite authentic and it came with authentic looking bodies. I think that is what collectors want, authentic looking cars with nice detail.

I reckon these cars will be very collectable in the ear future because they are already getting quite expensive and many people seem to be asking about them.

Do any of you think that the Beetle shell will make another comback? The same basic shell has been very successful on 3 cars now. If Tamiya decide on a fourth it would surely be another big seller. And the fact that the sells are so dam hard to get hold of now would also keep vintage collectors happy as we could all get nice new shells at a half decent price. Sounds like good ecconomic sence all round to me. What do you guys think? What sort of chassis could Tamiya plonk a Beetle shell on next?
