WD40 and plastics

Hi all,

Wil WD40 dammage my plastic parts on the chassis when I clean it with this stuff?

I have heard about the plastic on the Novak esc series cracking from it. I use it all the time on Tamiya products, but I usually use water afterwards.

Never had any problems either, just avoid getting it on rubber parts as it can cause them to perish or swell-up.

if you do use i try to wipe it off the plastic

recommend trinity's cleaning spray.  seems to loosen dirt well and doesn't leave oily residue

wd 40 WILL find its way down any small stress cracks in the plastic (usually found around screw and bolt holes. its designed to free off rusty bolts, so it easily finds its way down small cracks in plastic, which would otherwise have stayed small. the wd 40 then lubricates and opens up the crack and causes the part to fail.

thats my experience with wd 40 and rc cars, i only use it on bikes, cars etc...
