Still need help to set up a Tamiya P80F CPR unit. I have it hooked it up to motor /switch / battery / transmitter etc .The motor runs and responds to the transmitter but transmitter throttle trim has to be trimmed right back to get the motor to neutral (and that is only just about neutral ).I cant see a set button as per TEU 101 BK etc.Does anyone know how to reset the CPR unit to match my transmitter or does this cpr unit have to me matched to an Adspec transmitter only? - Thanks in advance

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but I also have a similar problem with a P60N CPR (probably the first CPR model tamiya made and it shows- that thing is a brick!). The current adjustment gets it from neutral at 2/3 throtle to full speed at full throtle which makes it hard to control (its almost as if you only have neutral and top speed). I do not see any adjustment pots/buttons on mine as well (I don't think any CPR can be adjusted). Is it possible that each CPR came pre-adjusted to its adspec remote? I find it hard to believe as Tamiya also sold a CPR/servo kits without the remote.

Anyone any ideas?

here is my CPR:

Maybe the Adspec had the same basic 6 band xtal set up but the matching of the units is different ,like if you hook up an Acoms handset to a receiver ,then hook up a Futaba handset to the same receiver ,you have to change the trim set up as they react differently ,even though they are on the same xtal frequency. For now i will keep looking for an Adspec transmitter to see if it will cure this bug!! - good luck with yours too  : )  ps - if anyone has an Adspec transmitter ,please drop me a line -thanx

Hey Kev-

I was thinking about this and had some ideas if you're interested.

Is it possible to open the case?  If you could open it and access the board, there is a small chance that it has some internal 'trim pots' to adjust the neutral point.

These are trim pots, or trim potentiometers:

Just a possibility mind you - I've never seen a Tamiya CPR unit up close, so I'm just guessing here.

Also a few words of caution: Since this is a receiver as well as an ESC, it may be possible that some of the pots adjust the reception parameters receiver, so be sure to mark the 'factory set' position before any changes - etc.  And of course, be very careful not to 'overdrive' these tiny little things as they are quite delicate.

Thanx for the info Steve.I am looking for an Adpsec trigger type transmitter to give it go as a matched pair to see if that works .I had thought about re tuning the cpu from the start ,but that can be complex in its way as you said because it is very 'hit and miss'.If all else fails then i will open it up and hopefully no toys will be thrown out of the pram LOL   :)
