If the gearbox works the same as the 1/14 rigs

(by the looks of it it does)

You need to be able to program 3 servo positions  (1,2 and 3 gear)

If you can with your tx, yes, you could use it (could not find it on the link at the spec's)

The program option is needed if used a switch, as the gear never hit "dead center, max left, max right" of the gearbox.

Hope this helps, Stefan

thanx a lot stefan ,

The third channel in my radio hasnt programmable positions , so i think i ll only be driving in 1st or 3rd gear.

 what do u think ?

Or you could limit servo travel by using a closer to the center hole and this way switch between 1st and 2nd gear (would be my choice) or 2nd and 3rd.

Hi There,

I've been thinking of getting a new transmitter, as I only have a cheap futaba + acoms at the moment, and I'd love end point adjustment as some of my Tamiyas need less servo travel than others. Anyway, i'm also interested in the Hi-lift and was wondering what wouod be a good transmitter to go for which fits the following criteria.

1. Needs to be a stick radio.

2. Needs end point adjustment

3. Ideally with memories for a few models.

4. Has a 3rd channel which I can use for the Hi-lift transmission.

5. No more than £100 ideally.

So far, i've seen the Sanwa gemini 2, http://www.modelsinmotion.co.uk/product.as...&tamiya=258 but i'm not sure how the 3rd channel is controlled. I'm guessing that the first stick can go up/down/left/right, but have found no details on the 3rd channel. Also the handset ain't pretty, but then i'm not too fussed by looks.

If I really need to spend a bit more and get a 4 channel tranny, I will, and would appreciate recommendations. Also i'd be keen to hear how people control there Bruisers / mountys.

Regards,

- Will.

I'd also be interested in recommendations.

I'm planning on installing a 2nd steering servo in my hi-lift so I can

have independant front & rear steering - it looks from some of the

early photos like there is an option to do this, although we can't be

entirely sure until we hear from someone who has actually got one in

their hands.

In this scenario I'll need an aeroplane-type controller with 2-axis

sticks; maybe left stick for motor control and rear steering, right

stick for steering and possibly gear shift?  ISTR seeing some

3-speed owners with a stick modification that allows gear shifting

using the right stick.

Advice on these options would be appreciated!

I have a Futaba 3VCS, will have to have a look and see if the 3rd channel can be used to change gears, I could do without having to buy another radio....

No, the left stick just goes up and down, it is

basically a 2 channel transmitter with the third channel on a separate

small auxilliary switch.

A 4 channel set will be more appropriate as you can set it up with a

proper gate shift. Try the Acoms 4 channel set for around £100 or the

Hitec laser 4 for around the same price. Both make the Sanwa Gemini

look pretty though. Both available from Fusion and Time Tunnel.

Yes, the Futaba 4VWD is also Tamiya's recommendation for the F350 and for non-US members, also Stella has it. Especially for people planning later to buy the MFU a 4(or more) channel stick radio is a must as it the MFU won't work with 3 channels or if one of them is just a switch channel like on pistol transmitters.

I’m also looking for a 4 channel stick transmitter to use
with the Hi-Lift and the Futaba 4VWD looks like a good choice.

Edit: I contacted Stellamodels and they
confirmed that on the 4VWD both sticks are spring loaded and self centering. I
agree with Typhoon (post under) that FM 40MHz is superior to AM 27MHz but the
4VWD has the features that are most important to me:

-2 (two) self centering sticks

-a shift gate included (I know shift
gates are easily available)

Here’s a link to the radio on Futaba’s webpage.

This new baby uses 1/14 Mercedes 1838LS gearbox. Yes, you should be able to shift on the fly with that Airtronics TX. But like DJTheo said, either between 1st/2nd gear or 2nd/3rd gear. Just play it like an E-Maxx.

Thx

Sorry, I made a mistake. The High-lift uses a 3 speed gearbox but not confirmed to be Mercedes 1838LS one. Should be similar.

The kit box is the same in size as 1838LS.

Thx
